Concordia Cemetery, Inc Reviews (1)

I'm writing to you in response to complaint #[redacted], dated 7-15-2016, filed against Concordia Cemetery, Inc. by [redacted], regarding the condition of the urn on the grave of her son, [redacted].Attached is a photo, taken after the...

urn was brought into our shop. As you can see,the urn is not broken. Mrs. [redacted] apparently thought that the urn was one solid piece. Itis not. Urns such as this one are made in two parts: A base, and a pedestal and bowl. The bowl had been glued onto the base. The glue residue which Mrs. [redacted] saw is not from a previous repair. It is the original glue, which over time has lost its grip, allowing the bowl to slide off of its base. We will be very glad to re-glue or re-cement the bowl onto the base, and put the urn back out on the grave. I have responded directly to Mrs.[redacted], providing this information. (See copy of letter, attached.)I'm sorry to hear that Mrs. [redacted] was "very hurt and angry" that "the office was not open for me to inform anyone and no one informed me". While it's true that Concordia's office is usually not attended, all of us do our very best to make ourselves available. Please keep in mind that Concordia was abandoned at the end of 2000, when most of the burial space was consumed; and since the end of 2003, it has been run on a volunteer basis, with no more than six burials each year. Given our present activity level,we can't staff the office every day. That said, our phone number is on the door. (See second photo, attached.) This number invokes an answering machine inside the office itself. This is not intended to record messages, but to provide a number to call for immediate service. This is done so that, if one volunteer goes on vacation, a different number can be provided on the outgoing message. Concordia is unique in that you can call and speak to one of us virtually 24/7/365.Additionally, at least three volunteers work at Concordia regularly. In fact, s.[redacted] did speak with our Vice-President, Mr. Larry [redacted], who promised to repair urn. Mr. [redacted] called me in her presence and reported the complaint, which I then forwarded to the rest of the Grounds Committee. Finally, regarding Mrs. [redacted]'s complaint that "nobody called me", I am not aware of any cemetery that would do this. Up to now, we have not even had Mrs. [redacted]'s name on file, or been able to link her to this grave. There are nearly 20,000 burials at Concordia, and we have only a little more than 800 lot-owners' names and addresses , a gap that we slowly are filling in, though many families are gone.If I can assist you in any way, please call me direct most anytime, at [redacted]Regards,David J. [redacted]President Concordia Cemetery, Inc.
