CondoManagements, Inc Reviews (1)

Dear Revdex.com,[redacted] purchased a condominium unit in a building that we manage.  The unit she purchased also has storage locker number #2 which she owns.  When she moved in there was a pad lock on her storage locker #2.  Instead of dealing with it she placed all of her storage items...

in storage locker #3 since it was empty at the time.  Storage locker #3 is owned by another owner in the building that was vacant at that time.  So when the owner of the unit that owned storage locker number 3 was ready to move in they called me and said someone else's stuff is locked in their storage locker and that they need to move things into it in a week.  We then sent out an email to all the owners asking them if they had things in the wrong storage locker.  [redacted] emailed me right away and said when she moved into the building that the storage locker that she owned had a lock on it and there were things in it so she locked all her things into storage locker #3.  I let her know that she owns locker number #2 and that she needed to move her things out of the other owners storage space.  She stated that she would not remove her things from the other owners space until hers was cleared.   At that point in time we sent out a couple group emails to try to find out who may have stored things in her locker and nobody replied.  So we gave [redacted] the name and number for a vendor who could come and cut the lock on her storage locker and help her dispose of the things.  At that time she said she would not pay for the service even though it was her locker and she was now impacting another owner from using their locker.  After checking with the Board of directors the homeowners association hired a contractor to cut the lock and pull the items out of [redacted]'s storage locker so that she could move into it and no longer impact the other owner who's locker she was using without permission.  They HOA found that all the items locked in her storage locker were items that belonged to the last owner.  [redacted] moved her things into her correct storage locker and refused to deal with the items that belonged to the last owner of her unit so they sat in the middle of the locker room until the HOA threw them away. The HOA per the governing documents back charged [redacted] for both the cutting of the lock as well as the disposal of the items left in her locker by the owner she purchased it from.  I tried to explain that this was not much different that buying a single family house and on the date of closing you walk into find some paint cans and a couple of shovels left in the garage.  You would not go to the house next door and place your car in their garage because the house you purchased had things in the garage.  You would then not expect everyone in your neighborhood to also pay for the removal of the items in your garage. Dealing with a storage locker that you own is part of home-ownership.  As far as an illegal or fraudulent charge that did not happen.  Attached is the Auto Debit form that she signed and it allows for things that the Homeowners association charges back to owners to be pulled by Auto Debit.  We hope this clears things up and resolves this issue.
