We specifically asked for a case to protect our phone. This was the recommended solution proposed by the salesperson. At the time of purchase in front of the salesperson we put the phone into the case. We were never told that this case was not for a phone

In fact, if you were to ask about recommended use for the item purchased (water wallet), you would have been informed that the item was not suited for electronics.
