Coney Island Vinny's Tattoo & Body Piercing Reviews (1)

Review: I went to Vinny's Shop to re-pierce my first holes. Because there had been previous scarring, I first asked [redacted] if he thought it would be okay. As he was the expert, and said it would be fine, he proceeded ($15). He marked an area on my ear and asked me if it was even. I was not certain, but he felt that it was okay. Following the piercing, when I looked in the mirror, it was immediately evident that the ear piercings were not even. I explained how unhappy I was with the results and he then repierced one ear. This time, he did not mark the spot and just aimed lower. Following this piercing, my ear was bleeding. I was given paper towels and told to apply pressure. Upon looking in the mirror, I saw that my ear had turned bright red. I felt as though I was going to faint. Later that evening, my ear began to burn really badly. I had no choice, but to remove the earring. The next morning, I went to my dermatologist who said that I was developing an infection and had a bad [redacted], as it had been pierced twice in the same day. I had to pay a $20 copay and $5 for medication. When I got home, I called Vinny's Shop. I spoke with someone else who seemed to be aware of the incident from the previous day. Vinny was there, but did not get on the phone. This individual spoke with Vinny (a conversation I could hear from the phone). Vinny seemed to think it was funny. He used foul language and basically told me that it was impossible that anything could happen from the double piercings (one following the other). His answer was "Take it out" "This is not heart surgery". I wanted my money back and he thought it was a big joke. I am very upset as to the manner in which I was treated and I would like this practice investigated and my money returned.Desired Settlement: I want my money back. I also want the business sanctioned.

Business

Response:

[redacted] came into my shop wanting to have her ears repierced. She informed me that she thought one piercing was closed and one may still be opened according to her. I took out a new sterile pack of diamond earings, marked her ears and asked her to look in the mirror to ok the placement. She said it looked fine and her girlfriend that was with her also confirmed that the placement looked ok. After the piercings were done she looked in the mirror, paid me and left happy. She returned to my shop about 15 minutes later and said she felt that one earing was slightly lower then the other. I told her that she confirmed the placement but that I would be happy to redo it for her. I pierced her again. After the piercing she again looked in the mirror and said it was fine and then left. She called me the very next day and said that she had gone to her doctor because she had felt her ear was infected. I informed her that her ear could not be infected the very next day and that everything was 100% sterile. She insisted on having her money returned to her and I informed her that I tried to make her happy by piercing her ear a second time without charge. I have been in this business for 30 years and have never had any Revdex.com complaints against my business.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

After reading the response from the merchant concerning my ear piercing experience, I would like to comment on and clarify some of the points that were brought up. I did not leave the place, there is a big waiting room in addition to the piercing/tattoo room. I did not leave the place at all nor was I happy once I saw how uneven the piercings were. I walked outside the room to the waiting area where there was a wall length mirror. After seeing how it looked in the mirror, I called one of the employees over to let him know how uneven they were. Vinny, however, never moved from his seat. When I was finished with the first piercings, he immediately took someone else in. Vinny actually did my second piercing with another customer in the room. It was not 15 minutes later, but about less than 5 minutes. As a result of the second piercing to correct the unevenness, my ear was bleeding. At this point, I thought I was going to faint. I left right after that, as I was extremely upset about the situation.
