Please allow this to serve as our response
to the above captioned complaint. Conifer Insurance Company (further
referred to as “Conifer”) has reviewed this matter in its entirety and is
currently working to resolve the outstanding issues with Mrand Mrs. ***Mr*** filed the
claim for fire damage to the property located at ***
*** *** ***, ***, Indiana. The incident resulted in damage
to the water softening system for which the insured has been compensated at
full replacement cost value, damage to the washer and dryer, for which the
insured has been compensated at actual cash value, and some minimal clothing
contents that were damaged and for which the insured has been compensated at
their full value. In addition to the personal property damage, the
interior of the dwelling required cleaning, repair and repainting to refresh it
from this incident. To date Conifer has issued payments to Mrand Mrs
*** totaling $8,183.74, and our file
has remained opened until a final settlement can be reached once all receipts
have been providedOn or about August 3, 2015, Conifer’s staff adjuster, *** ***, explained
to Mr*** that in order to recover the full replacement cost value of the
washer and dryer and replacement cost value on the dwelling repairs, Mr*** would need to send Conifer receipts evidencing the
completed dwelling repairs and that the washer and dryer have in fact been replaced. On October 17,
2015, Mrs*** contacted Ms*** to advise she had misplaced several of
the receipts associated with the dwelling repairs, but that she was still in
the process of gathering the receipts she could locate, including the receipts
for the replacement of the washer and dryer, and that she would be submitting
them for our review. However, as of this response, we have not received
any of the related receipts. As the insured cannot produce many of the
receipts for the costs associated with the interior dwelling repairs, but has
since submitted photographs to support that the repairs have been completed,
Conifer has accepted the photographs in support of the completed interior
repairs and is in the process of releasing the supplemental payment of
$4,828.20, representing the full replacement cost value of the dwelling damage,
(based on the adjuster’s estimate), less the $1,policy deductible.
Conifer is prepared to issue further supplemental payment for replacement
of the washer and dryer once the insured has provided the receipts as promisedWe hope that this satisfies the concerns presented by Mr*** in this
matter. Should you have any questions or require any additional
