2015 rejection of Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing offer and serves to respond to this business's input to complaint ID [redacted] 40 dated May 28, 2015. Also, please find enclosed my April 6, 2015 letter to Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing which details my original unresolved issues with this business conceming this matter. In reference to individual paragraphs in the Irish Pride  Services/Reliant Roofing response to my complaint:1. Second paragraph - It is not true that Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing advised against the installation of a metal roof on my home. Irrespective of this, it is common knowledge that numerous homes  throughout Westem New York with a Cape Cod-style or similarly pitched roof pitch possess metal roofs. In addition, the metal roof I had installed by a professional residential roofer in October 2014 (to replace the majority of the substandard roof installed by Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing) operated exceptionally well over our record 2015 winter. The new roof possesses numerous snow guards and proper ventilation; all of the snow guards have remained intact and there was minimal if any ice build-up on the lower roof slope and gutters.2. Fourth paragraph- The vent pipe seal leakages were initially addressed by Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing within one to three days. However, the repairs were piecemeal and only temporary as the sealing (some form of tar I believe) around the pipes would then leak again, demonstrating that the repairs were quick fixes and that permanent repairs were in order. Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing neglected to repair the fractured vent pipe that occurred on December 20, 2013. This damage occured as a result of the deficient installation of the snow guards (please see #3). Therefore, none of these relatively smaller problems were truly "successfully addressed" by Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing. It is not true that Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing offered to repair the interior drywall damage resulting from the leaking vent pipes; it would make no sense for me to decline any such offer.3. Fifth paragraph- Per the manufacturer's specifications, the snow guards must be anchored in structural members such as purlins or rafters. Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing attempted to anchor the snow guards into substandard purlins (they were of insufficient width to secure snow guards), or simply screwed the snow guards into the metal roof panels without anchoring them into any structural member. This is precisely why the guards ripped out under snow load. Because the purlins are hidden from view beneath the metal roof panels, I was unaware that the purlins themselves were substandard until the roof panels were removed for replacement by another contractor in October 2014. In July/ August 2014, it is not true that I requested Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing to provide me with an entire "brand new roof." At the time, I specifically requested that Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing only replace most of the roof panels on the west half of the house where it had installed the snow guards that were ripping out. I told Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing that the east side of the house was technically my responsibility as I had those additional snow guards installed based on the faulty design and practices used by Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing. It was only after I became aware that the purlins throughout the entire house were substandard and the entire roof was not vented in October 2014 that I requested that Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing reimburse me in the amount of $10,600 to cover the cost of the replaced metal roof. I did consider Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing "final" repair proposal but decided to reject it. After finding out in October 2014 about the substandard purlins and that the metal roof completely lacked ventilation, it is evident that my rejection of the Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing "final" repair proposal was astute as accepting it would have failed to address these previously unknown underlying substantive issues plaguing the roof. 4. Sixth paragraph- Please see #1. It is common knowledge that there are numerous Cape Cod-style buildings throughout Western New York that possess metal roofs. 5. Seventh paragraph - I did not mention anything about the mold growth to Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing until my letter of April 6, 2015. I was unaware of the mold problem and complete lack of ventilation until the roof installed by Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing was removed for replacement in October 2014 by another contractor. It was not until that time that the new contractor advised me that no ridge vent had in fact been installed with the metal roof and that the sub roofing was being colonized by mold growth. I have retained a sample of the sub roofing (as it was removed by the new contractor to install proper ventilation) showing the mold growth.6. Eighth paragraph- Please see #3. Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing quick fix and proposed repairs to these substantive and chronic roof issues were piecemeal and substandard, and clearly lacked good faith. Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing "final" repair proposal would have merely served as another piecemeal, temporary and substandard fix as it would have failed to remedy the substandard purlins and complete lack of roof ventilation. Furthermore, the fact that the purlins were of insufficient width to secure the snow guards under snow load and that the roof lacked any ventilation indicates that Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing was either not qualified to install the metal roof in the first place, or intentionally cut corners on the contract. Please note that it took Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing over five weeks to install the metalroofing fall 2012, while it took the new contractor less three days to replace the majority of the roof in October 2014. The chronic issues with the roof could by no means be easily repaired as suggested by Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing. In response to these substantive issues, Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing implemented or proposed makeshift repairs, instead of directly and truthfully addressing the significant roof deficiencies. Removal and replacement of the roof in October 2014 confirmed that the metal roof installed by Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing was deficient and quite defective.7. Ninth paragraph - Please see enclosed letter. As noted in the final paragraph, the lack of a response from Irish Pride Services/Reliant Roofing to that letter has prompted me to file this complaint.  I appreciate your attention to this matter.Sincerely,[redacted]Enclosure

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  I expect them to fill holes , not scratches as stated, in the summer of 2017. I expect a satisfactory patch which will match driveway height. and not higher than existing driveway. This has been a wait to hear from them since April!   Hopefully they will still honor they're commitment then.
