Our policy is to return security deposits within 30 days.  This 30 days has not elapsed.  According to the move out inspection, the tenants security deposit was going to be returned to them less $60 for cleaning of a pet odor.  However, a new tenant has taken the property in an "as...

is" condition and has taken responsibility for cleaning the pet odor.  Since there was no labor on behalf of the company the full security deposit will be returned to the tenant.  This former tenant has called the office over 10 times in one day and acted very rudely even after it was explained to her that her deposit would be returned.  She demanded that it be returned immediately and from my understanding was very crass when company policies were explained to her.  I have not spoken to her directly but several of my staff have brought this tenant's attitude issue to my attention.  Due to the disrespectful nature of her calls I have authorized my staff to ignore future calls from her.  The tenant's deposit will be returned in accordance with our company guidelines.  While we usually return security deposits within 30 days,  New York state law usually provides for up to 45 days.  I understand that they are a military family, as a former officer in the Army I know that junior soldiers often have financial struggles and I will make an effort to expedite the return of their deposit so long as it does not cause undue hardship to another tenant who is waiting for theirs.Respectfully,[redacted]Conleys Rental Management-Owner/BrokerWest Point, Class of '07
