Connecticut Basement Systems Radon, Inc. Reviews (10)

We are extremely disappointed with this company. At the end of the summer of 2017,we had installed by the company, All Things Basementy, a sump pump system complete with a dehumidifier and insulation at the price of $11,000.00. On March, 2019, we called requesting a technician be sent to our property for maintenance of the system. We were scheduled for April 20, 2019. In the meanwhile, due to the enormous amount of rain, and the original misplacement of the end of the drain, water from our system was invading three of our neighbors properties, the one of the side and two behind us. Let us clarify that they placed the end of the drain at our property limit. We told our neighbors, because they were complaining to us, which they had a right to do, that we had an appointment on April 20, 2019 and that we would try to resolve the issue at that time. On April 19, 2019, we received a phone call from Basementy notifying us that they were cancelling the appointment because the technician who was supposed to come had been fired. They then told us that our new appointment was now May 24, 2019. To our embarassment, we had to call our neighbors to notify them to be patient because now we had to wait until May and we pleaded with them not to go to the Town Hall to make a formal complaint against us and subsequently Basementy. Now today, May 21, 2019, we received another phone call from Basementy once again cancelling the May 24, 2019 appointment, and no reason was given this time for the cancellation, and they rescheduled us for June 20, 2019. We called the company and presented our complaint. We spoke with Mike and he promised that he would call us back today after talking with his supervisor but he never called us back. So we just called the office at 6:30 p.m. and was told the office is closed and we were very offended. We were better off to leave water in our crawl space so we would never have been in this predicament of disturbing our neighbors. We were thinking of having some one come and fix the problem but we were worried that it may effect our warranty. Seeing that Basementy can not honor the life time warranty, we are requesting reimbursement of $4,000.00 for the breach of contract.

MY reply about MR*** ** complaint
ON 9-12-we were called out to Mr** home because the radon fan that we installed on the radon system was not workingThe radon system
was installed by CT Basement on 5-20-This system and fan came with a year guaranteeAt
the time that we changed the fan Mr.** also
purchased a testing device that we sell through ***Test kit number for the testing devise is ***, given to him on 9-12-
This testing device comes with instructions that Mr.** failed to comply with
On 4-20-2014 Mr.** started the test on 4-24-Mr** ended the test
The testing instructions state that after the testing device is closed the lab must receive the kit with in days ( in hours ) or the kit is invalid
The Lab in ** received the kit on 5-06-2014 days after the kit was closed
Facts about Mr**
1) Purchased kit on 9-12-
2) Started testing on 4-20-
3) Ended testing on 4-24-
4) put test kit in mail ??????????
5) Lab received test kit by mail on 5-6-
6) Mr.** DID NOT FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT THE TESTING COMPANY SUPPLIES WITH THEIR DEVICE
7) Ct Basement is not responsible, nor should this be consider a complaint on our company because once a person buys a kit with
instructions,on what to do, and they do not read it or comply, why is it CT Basement fault, or anyone eases faultExample If you buy milk and the expiration date is 2-10-and you open it on 5-1-and it is sour how is it the farms fault
Mr** is not a responsible adult, he does not recognize that it is his mistake ,and he can not take responsibility for it, because it is easier to blame others

These guys have been great to me. I have a old brick house with a finished basement. My wife and I also are very particular about seeing pipes, etc. tgey have come back multiples times and worked extensively with us to be very creative around designing a solution that (a) solved the problem, (b) met out aesthetic requirements which was no easy task and (c) was affordable. I would highly recommend tgese guys. Thanks CTBSR!!

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
1) The test kit had an expiration date of July 2014, and I did the test in April 2014, which was within the validity date of the kit. Therefore, the sour milk analogy is inappropriate and childish.
2) I followed all the instructions and mailed the kit on April 25th, the day after the test was completed and sealed.
3) I used the postage paid envelope that was part of the test kit. The postage paid envelope should have ensured that the test kit be received by the lab within 7 days, but it failed to do so. The instructions on the kit indicated the postage paid envelope should be used. There were no instructions on the kit that indicated that the package needed to be expedited.
4) When I called Connecticut Basement Systems Radon Inc. on May 13th, 2014, the female employee on the phone told me the company had received similar complaints in the past where the customers mailed the test kits to the lab on time but the lab received them late and was not able to analyze the results. The company should have warned customers of such possibility and taken action on it, such as increasing the postage on the envelope or asking customers to expedite the envelope.
5) [redacted] [redacted], please stop attacking me on my personal character by saying I am "not a responsible adult". It was very immature and unprofessional of you.
Sincerely,

We are still waiting resolution and compensation with Connecticut Basement Systems from over a year ago. They performed a faulty service that caused a massive leak in our basement. We needed emergency services to help dry the basement and remove items that were destroyed. Connecticut Basement Systems would not call us back or communicate with us for months. They acknowledged the mistake but will not pay for the damages incurred by their mistake.

Review: I purchased a radon testing kit from this company. I followed all the instructions for the radon test and mailed the testing kit to the designated lab using the provided postage paid envelope the day after the test was completed. About Ten days later, I received a report from the lab indicating the test results were invalid because the test kit was received late. I called the company to complain and was told they could do nothing about it.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive a refund for the amount I paid ($48) for the radon testing kit.

Review: My complaint is regrading a billing issue I had with CT Basement Systems Radon. I've tried numerous times to contact CT Basement Systems Radon to discuss this matter (both over the phone and via the mail) and not one of my messages has been returned. Background:On Tuesday, December 6, 2011, CT Basement Systems arrived at my house to do the following work:Remove all old 1 PVC Plumbing from 2nd well tank to after treatment. Install all new 1 PEX for all water conditioningRun new Poly line for discharge 30 ft to outside gutter leaderService neutralizer, softener, calcite The estimate provided for this work was $2,025.00. The technician ([redacted] NEHA # [redacted], HIC # [redacted]) was unable to run the new Polyline for discharge, yet we were still charged $2,025.00 for this work.Since December 6, 2011, I have called the CT Basement Systems office numerous times to discuss a refund for difference between the original estimate and billed amount, however my calls have gone unreturned.Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded for the work that they were unable to complete or simply offered an explanation as to why they can't/won't refund me.

To the Revdex.com,

The quote that was given to Mrs. [redacted] was on 8-5-2011 by [redacted] contract # [redacted]. The existing water treatment was serviced, and a new 10" x 54"

Granular Activated Carbon tank for radon in well drinking water was installed. [redacted] our licensed J-2 plumber completed all of the work and informed the

homeowner that the discharge line was fine and did not have to be changed. We did not give her any discount because of additional plumbing that had to be installed with out a charge to her. We have a signed copy of the work order which states used existing drain line for discharge .

If Mrs. [redacted] feels she is entitled to a refund even thought we did extra work which she was not charged for I will be more than happy to refund her

$ 15.00 for the 30' of discharge line that that we did not install. 30 ' of poly line at .50 per ft is $15.00

[redacted]

Fast, efficient, helpful, correct. Fair price. Excellent office staff and excellent company reps. Excellent installers. A year and a half later, I phoned for a receipt and copy of warranty; they were emailed to me within 1/2 an hour. For the next house I restore, this company will be one of my first calls.
