Review: I am calling about a loan for a car that was paid to CSECU, My exhusband and I had accounts with CSECU. Upon our divorce, we had a divorce agreement that the 2003 Nissan Altima that was included in a loan with the CU was to be signed over to our daughter as part of our divorce decree. Mr. [redacted] is disabled and cancer stricken and does not work. I had agreed to pay the balance of the car and I did pay it to the credit union in full. In the middle of all the chaos I and my exhusband filed bankruptcy. However, we never recieved a title when it was paid off. I am unsure of the discharge date for [redacted]'s bankruptcy, but I do believe it was after the payoff date of the car loan. In addition, the title should have been sent prior to the loans going into collections and the discharge. It seems the CU is holding on to it longer than they should have and are now denying to release the title saying that they are holding as something called cross collateral for the discharged debts to them. But it seems if they had sent it when it should have been sent, this would have not been an issue. I asked for a letter of clear explanation, I was denied. I am trying to figure out what I can do to get the title as I feel they are not doing things in a way that should be legal. If it was paid off prior to any problems, I don't really understand how they can hold onto the title. It's funny how they agreed to let me pay his loan but never mentioned I would not get the title once paid until after I did a lot of calling and trying to get this resolved.
