this is the only contractor that has been at this locationThere were a couple of handy men that I fired and ask to come backThere was the wrong grout and everything put downHonestly, if this would not have cost as much as it did I would have taken it to courtThis job was horribleI have plenty of pictures taken and have I am working with people to get these out thereThis is not about who likes who, my family or anything but work that was providedThere were several cases I should have pulled you from the jobHAVING YOUR KIDS WORK ON MY CABINETS AND THEIR FRIENDSHIRING CORNERSTONE MEANS PAYING FOR TOP QUALITY WORK AND GETTING THE WORST WORK POSSIBLE! THEIR WERE KIDS THERE WORKING NOT EVEN OLD ENOUGH TO HAVE A LICENSEI MAY HAVE MADE A BAD CHOICE BY USING LATEX, BUT THAT DOES NOT COUNT FOR THE DIRTY FINGERTIPS ON MY CABINETS, THE SPOTS MISSED, CABINETS HUNG UP CROOKED, THE WRONG COLOR GROUT, WHO WANTS WHITE GROUT ON A FLOOR? MESSY WORKERS, AND WAS SAWING IN MY HOUSE!
Regards,

In response to Mrs *** *** complaint:Both myself and my workers were very polite and accommodating Mrs *** insisted her cabinets be painted with latex enamel rather than having the expense of replacing the old plywood doors with new ones It was noted and hand recorded
on the contract the exact total of drawer pulls needed Knobs were previously mentioned but decided against due to the fact that a knob loosens over time and fingernails have a tendency to dig into and scratch the paint around the knobs and that pulls would make a better jobThus when the doors and hardware were removed and taken to the shop they were drilled and prep for door pulls requiring two hole and the old single hardware holes spackled over prior to sanding and painting When the paint had dried sufficiently the doors were shipped back to the job and installed as per written agreement However arriving at the site it was found that Mrs *** had purchased knobs rather than pulls( It was stipulated in the contract that the owner was responsible for purchasing all hardware At which time arriving to find the knobs I telephoned her husband and made this known to himMrs *** also had her son there to supervise and he was well aware of the situation also and was in contact with his mother I informed them that knobs could be installed but it would be an extra costs Seeing I would have to change the doors back to a single hole to accommodate the knobs and they would all need to be speckled and repainted.Mrs *** has been very unpleasant to work with and unreasonable to say the least.I was instructed to go ahead and install the pulls that they did not want to invite the extra costs.I have numerous irate, hysterical recordings from Mrs *** leaving messages On my cell phone complaining that we got paint on the painters tape when we had primed the kitchen cabinetsI tried to explain to Mrs *** that this was the intended use for painters tape but never could due to her ranting and raving on and on out of control So I didn't take any of her calls after that so she left these messages and have retained them on my phone in tact.I also have videos and pictures to collaborate the work and communications Including the original contract with the hand written requests and total of pulls needed to complete the project which is signed and dated.Mrs *** had her adopted daughter named *** to oversee the work who pointed out punch out items needing touch up after the installation I also have a signed document from Mrs *** Adopted daughter *** accepting all work as being completed and accepted and paid in full which was signed and witnessed.I was referred to Mrs *** by a customer whom I have done some odd projects for along with numerous commercial jobs, including their personal homeTo my knowledge I have been their sole contractor. It was brought to my attention by this customer that Mrs *** has had other contractors working on her house which all ended up fired or walked off the job That Mrs *** was a distant relative who resurfaced after some years and would I please do them this favor and work with Mrs *** So in an effort to accommodate this request and against my better judgement I undertook this job to my own demise Even filling out this report is an example to how unpleasant an experience this has been All requests have been completed as written and No further obligations remaining not due to Mrs *** The contract has been executed and completed and signed off on and paid in full.As for the missing materials I bought that seemed to have disappeared while in her house I am not concerned about .As for the paint I purchased I was going to leave as a good faith gesture but unfortunately one of my workers loaded it onto the truck inadvertentlyBut no ! Mrs *** did not purchase it and I will not be in any further contact with Mrs ***.No rework nor any future work will be performed for Mrs ***

This complaint is absolutely horrendous, and obsurd.an absolute fabrication of lies.Everything is written out in the contract and has been Completed as such. The number of drawer pulls were noted on the contract.I have been doing work for the relative who referred me to the [redacted] for the past 20 years. They are respectable People in the community and have two successful businesses. This was an effort for them to bridge an old family relationship. The [redacted] have run off 4 other contractors and I now see why no one will work for them.I would tell any contractor to RUN away !The relative who pleaded with me and asked me to do this favorhave since blocked the [redacted] calls off of their phones!I will not have, nor attempt to resolve any issues the [redacted] Seeing they are not at all honest, nor desirable to work with.

Cornerstone construction and its owner were referred to us by a relative. On our first consult we explained the bad luck we had been having finding good folks to do remodelling work for us. Cc owner did walk around of property and pointed out flaws and defects of prior workers. We priced several jobs and settled on only two. Remodel of master bathroom and refinish of kitchen cabinets. Cc owner said that we could expect professional results. The two jobs took weeks longer than promised.  The bathroom job we think is ok. The problem is with the cabinets. 13 cabinets and 26 doors. We picked out hinges and other hardware.  Cc owner took down all the doors and took them to his shop. It was weeks before they were rehung. The day they were reinstalled cc owner sent one of his men to [redacted] and exchanged our hardware for cheaper ones and about 40 dollars in change. Cashier at [redacted] verified this. We still do not know why this was done. We think it was because he had forgotten what he promised in the long interval between rehanging. He told our son that we had miscounted and more hardware was needed. We had in fact bought extras of everything to avoid that problem. Even if he needed more of what he had Lowe's had all of those items in stock. He did this without our knowledge or permission. The only thing we specified about the paint was the color.  The type of paint was his choice.  The job turned out badly in other ways too. The paint has brush marks in it as well as runs and drips. Several doors do not close properly. Hinges are crooked with screws that don't match. Trim work was overlooked and later only got new paint over old that can be easily scratched off. Some hinges were loose or had missing screws. Nails were painted over instead of being removed. The big problem is the paint itself. Cc owner said that the day doors were painted was cold and damp. Paint did not dry well. Some doors we think were hung back in wrong place causing them to not fit properly. We think they were not taken down in order and as a result they were not put back in rite order so now some of them don't fit.  We paid a premium price for a professional job and thats not what we got. Cc owner is nice until you dispute or disagree with him. He is a man of many talents and abilities, its a shame he doesn't use them to better advantage.  If he has other customers that are satisfied with his work I congratulate them and him. We are not among that group. He has multiple jobs going all at once but I did note see him take notes or write things down. If he leaves a job and doesn't come back for several days or a week or two it should hardly be surprising that he he forgets things. I resent the implication that we stole fom him. In fact I returned a battery charger to him that he uses to recharge his battery operated tools. He also used caulking that we gave him so he would not have ro stop work to buy more. On two occasions during this long process he cancelled work he had scheduled with very little notice and he was often late on other occasions.   I don't know why he is being so disagreeable. We asked him to work with us and make things rite. He has it within his power to fix problems but he has our money also so he's not willing to accommodate.  We also have witnesses and pictures and recordings of hostile comments he has made. He does not seem aware of how he intimidates other people. He is well over 200 pounds and all muscle compared to my wife who is five feet tall and 98 pounds. He is dismissive of things she asked for and treated her as if she worked for him not the other way around.  As much as it depends on us we want to live in peace but we also hope that by filing this complaint other people may benefit.                                        At no tine were new cabinet doors discussed.  These are custom cabinets and new doors would have been more expensive than refinishing old ones. We tried to withhold last payment to give us a lttle bargaining power with cc owner but that only produced irate threats and promises of lengthy legal battles. Every lawyer that we contacted about our situation refused the case because they had represented cc in other legal matters and wanted to avoid conflict of interest. This indicates cc ownrr knows the legal system and how to benefit from it. We decided to settle with him instead. He got paid in full and we are left with cabinets that will need the do over that cc owner should have taken care of. He is a shark looking for the unwary.Repectfully[redacted] and [redacted]

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/05/15) */
On January 24, 2014, I received $500.00 cash with receipt proof from the tenant as a partial security deposit. The tenants began moving into the property mid-February 2014 and did not pay rent per our verbal agreement until March 10, 2014. A...

lease was signed on March 15, 2014 agreeing to $1,800 monthly rent and $1,800 security deposit. In exchange for the building supplies, the tenants received 1.5 month's free rent and almost two free months of utilities valued at over $2,500.00. On March 25, 2014, I requested that the tenants get the utilities put in their name and had to loan them the $300.00 deposit required to do so because their power was shut off for days.
The tenants were consistently late paying rent and received multiple 5-Day eviction notices due to late payments and bouncing checks. On June 27, 2014, I received a shut off notice for gas services due to nonpayment. In July 2014, I had to pay court costs of $265.00 to issue an eviction notice due to nonpayment of rent.
[redacted] police notified me along with [redacted] that the tenants left three large dumpsters full of trash behind when they moved. The pictures are enclosed in the tenant's file. The cost was $250.00 to remove the trash from the residence.
The tenants only paid a $500 deposit. I am owed a carpet cleaning fee per the lease agreement of $150.00, $300.00 for the utility deposit loan, $265.00 for the eviction notice, and $250.00 for trash removal and another $100.00 for excessive cleaning. The tenants turned in receipts for materials purchased for the house totaling $399.54. I applied this to the balance they owed me and waived the remaining portion of $165.46.
Basement repairs were not finished as verbally discussed because a 2 year or more lease agreement was never signed and I had to take into consideration the amount of 5-Day eviction notices that were issued to them for late payments and bounced checks.
I believe that I was more than fair and a compassionate landlord by providing the 1.5 month's free rent and utilities valued at over $2,500.00, paying the Village of [redacted] utility deposit of $300.00, and waiving $165.46 in fees owed to me while the former tenants did not have the decency to leave the property in good condition.
