Travelled almost 800 miles to view a boat advertised at $9500 on craigslist...... [redacted] When I arrived and viewed the boat the price suddenly jumped over $10000.
If your going to advertise it at a price ...... It should be sold if that price is offered :/
They weren't willing to honor the advertised price.......
I'd stay away.....

I purchased a preowned boat from[redacted]. He and his team are exceptional to work with. They continue to be great after the purchase as well. I would recommend anyone wanting to buy a boat to check them out.

We brought our boat in for summerizing, detailing and a tune up. We were charged almost $1000 and when we removed the cover from our boat at the CDA launch, we noticed the carpets were dirty, parts of the boat weren't cleaned at all and the plug was missing. We purchased a plug from another store, put our boat in the water, and after driving for about 2 mins, the engine died. We received a tow to our slip from some very helpful people at our marina and had a mechanic take a look at the boat. He advised we needed a new fuel filter. My husband called Spokane Valley Marine and spoke with them regarding what had happened. They admitted it was standard procedure to change the fuel filter for a tune up, and they obviously did not do that. He also said it wasn't their fault the detail wasn't very good quality because they contract with another company. My husband explained that obviously they didn't do a proper tune up and because we paid them for the detail, and they deal with us directly (the customer) that they are responsible for the quality of work they contract. He disagreed, physically threatened my husband and told him to "take his f[redacted] business elsewhere". Very unprofessional & inappropriate. He did not offer to fix anything, apologize or refund money, only made excuses. We will not be doing any further business with them, especially when so many of their competitors in Spokane are so great to do business with ([redacted], [redacted], etc).

Review: I took my boat to Spokane Valley Marine to have some work performed on my main motor. While the boar was in their custody they stored my boat outside in their fenced yard. Someone broke into their yard while they were closed and stole my kicker motor off my boat. Spokane Valley Marine did not replace the motor, offer to compensate me, or offer an apology. They told me it was not their problem and to claim it on my own insurance. They still charged me full price for the work they performed. Due to them not locking my boat inside a secure facility my boat was at risk. They also do not take appointments. They make you drop your boat off and it is first come first serve basis. This forces the boat owner to leave the boat with them in an inadequate secured facility.nDesired Settlement: Spokane Valley Marine should replace my motor or compensate the value of the motor to me so I can replace my loss.

Response:

First off, let me say that we at Spokane Valley Marine are very sorry that this has happened to our customers. And I told this customer that during our conversation in my office. I also told him that we had a loss too, as the fence had to be repaired. I also discussed the fact that in addition to the fence, the yard is lighted and has the appropriate steps taken to do our best to insure the safety of all of the items in the yard, both customers and our own inventory that is stored inside our fence.

However, the boats we service and many of our new boats are outside in an 8' fenced yard with razor wire and barbed wire on top, and is lighted. The lot is just as safe and secure as any car or truck lot. All of our customers must sign the repair order when they drop their boats off for service. At the bottom of the repair order there is a clear disclaimer that states Spokane Valley Marine is not responsible for loss or damage beyond our control. See the attached repair order, signed by this customer.

Unfortunately, this customer was not the only one affected. However, the customers that chose to carry insurance on their property have been compensated by their insurance companies.

We do our best to take care of our boats and our customers boats, but we can not control everything. Spokane Valley Marine records the serial numbers on all the motors on each service boat. We have provided these numbers to the sheriff's office which will help in recovery of the stolen items, and arresting the persons responsible.

Revdex.com,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

A reputable business that stores other peoples personal property would carry Garage Keeper's Insurance. This insurance protects other peoples property while in the shops custody. I requested the name of Spokane Valley Marines insurance company name to try to resolve the matter civilly and to inquire whether they had Garage Keepers insurance, but they refused to give me the name of their insurance company and agent.

Secondly, the paper work I signed said that the owner and any employees are not responsible for damage or loss beyond their control such as fire. The security of Spokane Valley Marine's facility is not beyond their control. Their are many measures they can take to protect other peoples property such as a wrought iron fence around the yard. The fence that was cut was standard chain link fence which is easily penetrated. If they require customer's to leave their property over night they could also lock it inside their shop/building. There are many other steps that could be taken as well. Spokane Valley Marine could have prevented the theft of my property but chose not to. The owner also stated that they have multiple break-ins and they always go for the trolling motors which is what I lost. If they have multiple break-ins, a reputable company would take the necessary steps to protect others property. Consumers in the area need to know the risk they are putting their property at by bringing to Spokane Valley Marine.

Spokane Valley Marine should compensate me, and the others affected, the fair market value of the property lost while in their possession as any reputable company would. This is not only the right thing to do, but the required action under the Bailment laws.

Good talking to you. I want to open the claim back up against Spokane Valley Marine, complaint ID [redacted].

Their last response said they were turning the claim over to their insurance. I FINALLY heard back from their insurance company on Monday, 11/10/14. Spokane Valley Marine does not carry insurance on customer’s property and the claim was denied.

I still believe that they are responsible not only for the security of their facility, but their customer’s property while under their possession. I also believe their business practices contribute to more risk on the customer’s property and they should insure customer’s property while in their possession. I think other customers of theirs, and potential future customer’s should know about the risk they are putting their property at by taking it to Spokane valley Marine.

Sincerely,

In response

to complaint - ID [redacted].

We turned

everything over to our insurance company, [redacted]. Mr.

[redacted] stated that we do not carry insurance on our customers boats and that

is not a true statement. The truth is that Mr. [redacted] chose to not

carry insurance on his motor. We do carry insurance on our customers property

so that is not why the claim was denied. The claim was denied because it

was determined that we had done everything within our control to make sure that

our lot was as safe and secure as possible. Not because we do not have insurance on our customers boats because we do. And because the customer had

signed a release stating that we were not responsible for loss beyond our

control. We also store our own new boats on our lot with kicker motors

and expensive electronics.

[redacted] hired [redacted], and independent firm, to assess the

property and the security of our establishment. [redacted] determined that

we had done, and continue to do, everything reasonable to secure our lot. It was determined

that our lot lighting, 8' chain link fencing and the barbed and

razor wire was more than adequate to secure the lot as best as possible.

While all of

the evidence shows that we were in no way responsible for the theft of Mr.

[redacted]'s motor shows that we are indeed not responsible. We are willing

to make Mr. [redacted] an offer. We would

like to offer him the NADA value of the motor that he had stolen off of the

price of a new motor of the same horsepower for his boat.

Revdex.com,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me as long as the pricing of the new motor and the value of the motor stolen are in line with normal pricing.
