Revdex.com spoke to Jackie at business and the following was relayed: We did finally receive confirmation and the account was removed from collections. We did not have the forwarding address to issue a refund but will mail refund to customer address from complaint.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Regards

The property that I rent from recently switched to this company
my water bill have a flat rate of $105 every month on top of what ever water we use! I use $2 worth of water every month which is on the top of my bill, I called the company to ask about the $105 flat water charge, and was told the local municipality was passing on that charge to them, which is a total LIE. and UNFORTUNATELY I am no allowed to cancel service from them.

Online billing is a nightmare. And I work the hours customer service is open, & there’s no automated system to make payments with.

This company is a rip off scam they charge a late fee for having a late fee for a family of 4 my water bill is 80 per month that’s insane I’ve tried to reach out to the company and I get the run around everytime poor customer service and they are ripping off everyone and if you don’t pay you get kicked out of your home by your rental company I’ve been to court 3 times and had to pay over a thousand dollars in lawyer fees

Regarding Revdex.com complaint # ***, allow me to address the complaint point by point…

The tenant states we are a “scam”:
WaterWatch is a 3rd party billing company employed to install water submeters in apartment units, and bill tenants for water and sewer usage based on the meter readings. Third party billing/recovery companies like WaterWatch are commonplace throughout the nation, and we bill for more than 350 properties nationwide. In accordance with industry standard billing practice, the local municipality utility rates are applied to the usage captured on the unit sub-meter and the recovered monies go back to landlord to help defray water/sewer costs that they are billed from the local municipality. Each property that enters into a contract for third party billing services, notes the obligation of the tenant to pay for their water/sewer costs as part of their lease agreement.
The tenant states we, “charge a late fee for having a late fee”:
I have reviewed the account in question, and see that the tenant has never made a payment on the account since the date of move-in, which was in August of 2016. The bills are due on the 15th of each month and if there is a balance on the account, the tenant is charged a $7.00 late fee for collection efforts. Since no payments have ever been made, the account is charged a late fee each month in addition to current charges.
The tenant states, “for a family of 4 my water bill is 80 per month that’s insane..”
The tenant has been billed for 20 consecutive months, and at no time were current billed charges $80.00 or more. The tenant’s average monthly bill is $44.25. The highest bill ever received (current charges, not including escalating past due balances) has been $66.43. This amount is below the national average for a family of 4. The lowest amount billed was $24.51.
The tenant states, “if you don’t pay you get kicked out of your home by your rental company…”
WaterWatch has no control over, or stake in the eviction of tenants. Any legal requirements of the lease agreement and the choice of the property owner to act on the contracted obligation for a tenant to pay for their own utilities, is strictly between the property and the tenant. We are only employed to bill utility costs to tenants in a recovery effort on behalf of the property owner.
The tenant’s stated desired settlement: I want this company to be done there’s no reason an official water company can’t supply water and charge an honest rate 60-90 dollar per month is absurd no one should have to get ripped off that way especially since we live in New York where everything is more expensive to begin with my parents own a large home 3 bathrooms used daily and their swimming pool and hot tub it doesn’t cost them more then 45 dollars for 3 months of water service meanwhile I have to pay 300 every three months
The local municipality supplies water and sewage services to apartment complexes. Most apartments receive a bill for total water used at the site. Utilities supplied from a municipality are billed in total to a property owner. The owner is ultimately the responsible party to the municipality. No municipality bills individual rental tenants of an apartment complex for their individual water use. Owners must pay for the equipment to be installed in each unit so they can bill back to tenants. Each municipality of any state has different water and sewer rates based on the supply costs dictated by factors such as the size of the population, the age of the underlying infrastructure and so on. Rates and fees related to water and sewer usage are set by the municipality and if the tenant has a complaint about the rate, I would refer them to the local governing authority.
Please let me know if we have sufficiently addressed the complaint. Best Regards, Christina N |Operations and Billing Analytics Manager

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. Regards, *** I have never had anyone step foot into my house to read a meter nor have the people living next door to me. I also have a print out I can attach to a message to show that for three consecutive months. I was billed 80.23, 78.53, 84.05 my bill is also paid in full if that helps because I recieved an eviction notice from my landlord you charge a 7.00 late fee and then you charge a 3.00 fee to process the late fee hence the statement I made about charges for late fees in your website it says you give the landlord the option to control the utility expense your a company that everyone can do without I don’t just speak for my self look at your google reviews if you need better understanding for 3 months of water in the city or anywhere else it cost 65 dollars on average for a family of four for your water service it costs a total of 80 per month I have all the proper paperwork to show

We’re not sure what more we can say with regard to the desired settlement of the tenant: I want this company to be done there’s no reason an official water company can’t supply water and charge an honest rate 60-90 dollar per month is absurd no one should have to get ripped off that way especially since we live in New York where everything is more expensive to begin with my parents own a large home 3 bathrooms used daily and their swimming pool and hot tub it doesn’t cost them more then 45 dollars for 3 months of water service meanwhile I have to pay 300 every three months
The above is essentially a statement of aggravation with being billed for utilities. The desired outcome stated above is that the tenant wants our company to be “done”. There is no acceptable to response to this because of course, WaterWatch will not cease to operate as a business because the tenant’s opinion is that his billing is too high. The complaint is directed to water rates which we do not set. The local municipality has jurisdiction over water rates. WaterWatch has nothing to do this. Also, there is a charge for paying online or over the phone with a representative, which is the $3.00 the tenant is referring to. Since there is a cost to the infrastructure in place that allows us to use the Visa/ Mastercard/Online check service through the credit card companies, we pass that along, as is a business standard practice. As was previously stated, WaterWatch has nothing to do with evictions. That is a landlord’s prerogative based on many factors that are stated in the lease, which WaterWatch has nothing to do with. If the tenant has issues with being billed for utilities, he would have to go back to the landlord and renegotiate the contract between the landlord and himself. If the tenant the tenant doesn’t believe different jurisdictions should charge different rates for utilities, I would refer him back to the municipality to discuss his dissatisfaction with their rate structure.
