Consign Furniture Reviews (2)

I had a table on consignment with them. It didn't sell, when my son retrieved it, it was badly damaged. They took no responsibility for the damage.I consigned a few pieces of furniture with them. A lighted table did not sell, so I had my son pick it up in his truck. I noticed damage on it when my sons brought it in. Checked his truck to make sure it did not happen en-route. He did not notice it when he picked it up. Called the store and spoke with [redacted] who accused my son of damaging it. He was loud and abusive. Said the contract states they are not responsible for any damage that occurs in the store...citing"you may have enemies that come in with a knife and destroy your furniture, I'm not responsible for that" and other things like"if we have a fire, I can't be responsible for thousands of dollars of furniture that's destroyed". He was very bizarre and kept saying my son was lying. I assured him he was not and that is not the way my family is. Finally after 10 minutes of him talking over everything I tried to say, he agreed to send me $75. At that point, I realized I'd better accept that because [redacted] did not seem very stable to me after his tirade. That was a month ago and I've never received the check. I have purchased items from them in the past. Consigning with them however, is a different story. I would not recommend that store to anyone! He essentially called me a liar, and my son also. Never taking responsibility for my table which was in his showroom. Desired SettlementI want them to take my table and have it professionally repaired. The other solution would be to pay me in full for the listed price of the table.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] COOContact Phone: 7758240222Contact Email: [redacted] did indeed consign with us, unfortunately we were not aware of any damages to the table in question. When [redacted]'s son came to pickup we loaded the table for him when at the time there was no damaged mentioned. [redacted] called us a few hours later irate stating that we had damaged her table, very calmly I tried to explain to her that there was no mention of any damage at the time of pickup and it clearly states in our contract that we are not liable for any damage to items while in transit or on the premise. While she continued to berate me on how we had damaged her furniture, I tried to explain to her that she should talk to her son regarding the situation. At this time she then accused me of calling her and her son a liar which is completely false. WE pride ourselves on customer service and I do apologize to [redacted] for any inconvenience, but also do not feel we were responsible for the damage and feel we are not responsible for paying for any damages as stated by our contract. Furthermore I do believe it is very wrong for [redacted] to attack me personally as I am far from abusive and am a very stable person. I will be including our contract with the paragraph in question highlighted. Thank you [redacted] Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)This man started raising his voice to me immediately in our conversation. I could hardly get a word in at all. I finally kept quiet until he stopped talking, asking if it was my turn. As soon as I began to speak he interrupted me again and again. My son did not notice the damage. He does not live with me and only picked it up as a favor. [redacted] did say that my son caused the damage and when I disputed that he said, " well that's what YOU say". That is equivalent to accusing me of lying. Of course I asked my son about it when he brought the table into my house. He said he was sorry, he did not notice the damage. We both then went and looked in his truck for if he inadvertently caused the damage, the missing piece would be in his truck...it was not. I am not the kind of person who would lie..neither is my son. [redacted] also told me he would send me a check for $75, which never happened. For him to not take responsibility for items placed in his store is outrageous. He also stated that I "may have enemies who would come to his store and damage my goods", is also outrageous. Irregardless of the contract, he should take responsibility for property that is left in his care. He went so far as to say if his store burned down he'd be responsible for everything that everyone has in his store. Well, I would think he would be, too. That's why people have insurance. I am not satisfied with the outcome of this at all. [redacted] is not being honest, either, when he said he was calm. He was anything but calm. Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)I'm accepting his original offer, that I had already agreed to on the phone with [redacted]. I know this is the best I can expect from such a business owner as [redacted].Final Business Response We pride ourselves on customer service and do apologize to [redacted] for any misunderstanding. When [redacted] signed into our consignment agreement she acknowledged our full contract( which has been provided to the Revdex.com)I believe [redacted] is unfair in wanting the full retail amount of $300. We had priced [redacted] table at a high of $300 and a low of $150 as due to our contract after the sale of the item we pay out 50% of proceeds. Due to that fact there is no way [redacted] would have ever received $300. I had offered to pay [redacted] the $75 which would have been half of the low price and half of what the final price tag was priced at, but as she continued to be very rude and combative I told her I would no longer be doing business with her. Before I ever took the phone call [redacted] had communicated with our store manager and could not come to a resolution due to [redacted]s Rude Behavior. In all I would like to resolve this matter by offering [redacted] the original offer of $75.00. and move on from this matter as I will also not engage into name calling that [redacted] seems to resort too. Thank You [redacted]

Sellers beware, these guys are dishonest and will scam you for over 50% profit on your items; I have also not received $600 from the sale of my items.
At first, as a buyer, I saw some low prices that got my attention. Later I spoke to a manager, Eric R[redacted], who I was told is one of the owners. I told him about my high end items that I was interested in selling if the price was right. I only wanted them sold as a set, because if they were broken up I feared we would not get the true value, be left with items that would not sell, or take a long time to sell.
Over several weeks we spoke and he still wanted my items for the showroom; only the good items are displayed in the showroom. I agreed and he sent his movers to pick up my items, free of charge, but the movers gave me paperwork and said I needed to sign. I contacted him with questions and he said I that I needed to sign the standard paperwork, but that he would get me our verbal agreed minimum of $1,000.00 if not more.
At first I said no, I did not want to sign the paperwork, but he told me they take 50% commission on the sale so they wanted to sell the items for as much as possible. He also told me that if they broke up the items we would earn more money and insisted that this is what we needed to do. I was unsure but reminded myself that this was his business and he had given me his word, so I agreed to do it.
Over several months they sold most of my items but not all of them. I called to check up on my items and I was told that they sold some of them, but they were sold far below our agreed prices. I was told that this was a mistake from the new store manager because he thought I had abandoned my items and they owned them now. I spoke with Eric again who acknowledged this mistake and said that he will raise the prices on the remaining items to offset this loss. I said this will make them harder to sell and pointed out that this was my original concern.
Most recently they informed me they took two other items similar to mine which also made mine harder to sell. I was not told they changed me $10 extra for every check they wrote, but I accepted that this is what you have to do as a business to earn money. At this point I am still owed over $600 from my items with only one table left.
These guys avoid me as much as possible when I contact them, I feel that they used "the standard paperwork" to deceive me, and they sold my items for much less than our agreed prices. The owner even bragged about buying a 3.4 million dollar building. When I brought up our verbal agreement regarding the items, I was told that they have stored my items over a long period of time, so they now owned them because I did not resign the paperwork. This is another thing I was not informed of or in our original, verbal agreement. I have received insults and attitude from them. If you know the value of your items, I do not recommend selling them through this company.
