Consolidated Construction Services, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: Our home burnt down on 1/7/2016. Consolidated Construction was recommended by our Ins. adj. to do repairs(the adjuster did advise us we could us anyone of our choice). [redacted] performed all demolition and clean out our home excluding the two back bedrooms which had severe fire damage. [redacted] completed all work on or about 2/5/16 Consolidated Construction informed us they would began work directly after [redacted] was done. As of 4/21/16 Consolidated Construction has completed the roof one our house only. All other worked performed by Consolidated hasn't been completed doors hung but not wrapped basement door hasn't been hung, new construction windows where placed in the residents when replacement windows should have been used all windows are more then 3inches smaller then orginal windows no windows have been wrapped all windows haven't been put in. Consolidated Construction billed us for cleaning and soda blasting of the home an inspector was sent out by our bank which confirmed this process hasn't been done the home still smells of smoke.Desired Settlement: We would like a fair honest bill for the work that has been performed.

Response:

Consolidated Construction Services started demo work of the severely damaged areas of this home on February 2nd, 2016, after the mitigation contractor was finished removing what they were hired to. Mrs. [redacted] asked at our first meeting in late January how long the rebuilding process would take and I estimated that repairs would take approximately six months. There was major structural damage to the right side of the home including the floor joist system in two entire bedrooms and the roof framing on the right side as well. The first phase of this job was to demo these areas and re-frame the main floor level joist system (approximately one third of the floor structure). This was completed within two weeks of our start date. The next step was to remove two layers of shingles on the entire roof and replace a portion of the roof rafter system and sheathing. This was accomplished and new shingles were installed after a delay from winter weather. The roof work was performed by a personal friend of our client at their request. The interior went through soda blasting, cleaning, and sealing of the framing. New windows were installed along with new exterior entry doors. The house had wood new construction windows and the insurance company allowed money for a new construction vinyl window of today’s standards. To do a replacement window in the existing openings would have involved framing that was not covered by the insurance company. It took approximately three weeks for our client to decide on a shower and bathtub that were both special order items. This delayed the start of trade rough in work. Even with that we were ahead of schedule with the repair work on the home. We started work in February as soon as the mitigation contractor was finished with their scope and we gave a completion date to Mrs. [redacted] at our last meeting of June 30, 2016. That would have been less than the six month timeframe that they were fine with in our initial meeting when they asked approximately how long it would take. During our last meeting the [redacted]s started off complaining about how long it was taking. It was explained that the shower and tub were holding up plumbing rough in work but gave them a calendar showing that we still would be done approximately one month prior to our original completion date. Mr. [redacted] (a self-proclaimed contractor) stated to me when they really did not have an argument on the timeframe that all of his friends think that he is crazy for not doing this repair work himself. We were told to stop work and send them a breakdown of costs to date. This was sent to them using the scope of work that their insurance company approved. To date we have received no monies for the work that has been performed. Unfortunately we are now having to pursue getting paid by legal means.
