My name is Kristen R***I am the manager who did the final move out inspection for the apartment in questionI have had a very good relationship with the residents and enjoyed having them as residents very muchOn several occasions I was able to help with minor problems while they were living
at Donna ManorI considered them outstanding residents. On June 7, I went to apartment #*** at *** ** *** *with *** *** and we walked through the apartment togetherI pointed out the areas of the apartment that needed further cleaningI informed her that they would be charged for cleaningI wrote on my inspection sheet that the apartment needed a “pre-clean” and a “complete clean”When we do a pre-clean we send our cleaning company in, before the painters come in, to clean the walls and woodworkWe want to make to make sure that we are not painting over dirtAfter the painting is finished we send the cleaners back to do a thorough cleaningIf there is any dirt, grit, grease, or grime it has to be cleanedWe cannot move a resident into a unit that has any dirt, grit, grease, or grimeThat is our policy*** went through the inspection with meI showed her the damage to the carpet and told her that we would have to replace it and that they would be charged for the damageShe told me that she understood that they had damaged the carpet and that they would have to pay for the damageI talked to her about the cleaning and told her that there would be cleaning chargesShe signed the inspection, which I have attached, and turned in her keys.*** called me after she received the bill and I emailed a copy of the move out inspection to her along with the photosShe was not satisfied with my answerI was not able to revise the bill because the work had already been done, there was no question that the apartment needed to be cleanedWe did a fair adjustment of the charges for our carpetWe did not charge the resident for the tear out of the old carpet and we feel our charges are fair.We feel that the charges are fair and that the residents were informed of the damage to the carpet and the cleaning that would need to be completedThey were also informed that they would be charged for the cleaningWe do not feel that we need to make any adjustmentsTell us why here

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: I don't want to repeat everything I have mentioned earlier. We were completely unaware that we would be charged for cleaning until we received the notice. It was our fault to sign the paper without reading it completely because we ([redacted], to be specific) trusted that the paper would not have anything more than that was was discussed verbally. If we had the copy of that paper, we could follow up on the comments immediately. I can't stress enough how hard we worked to clean up the apartment. We lived in three different apartments before, newer and well maintained. But they never charged us for cleaning and never said that we left the apartment dirty. One thing we did not do as mentioned by the manager is that we did not wipe all walls and celings to make it paint ready. I don't think we were supposed to do that. However, we cleanned areas on the wall that had stains. Also, as mentioned by the manager, I understand that it requires cleaning after replacing carpet and after painting, but I don't understand why we need to be responsible for that cleaning.
Sincerely,
[redacted]
