that the price of the vehicle had been lowered significantly because of some minor mechanical issues and it was explained that Mrs.[redacted] was going to be purchasing the vehicle AS IS. Mr. [redacted] was present and supported his wife’s desire to purchase the vehicle despite the existing issues. It was recommended that she arrange for the vehicle to be inspected by GMC or a mechanic. Mr & Mrs.[redacted] declined. The purchase price excluding taxes, doc and registration was $8,965.On March 8, 2017 Mrs.[redacted] called upset about a diagnostic that was performed by a local Toms River mechanic, it was requested that Mrs. [redacted] have the estimate promptly sent over to the office via fax. Two different estimates were received, one significantly higher than the other, with a note on the 2nd quote reading “quote is accurate”. We have a mechanic we regularly utilize. He was sent the estimate for review and almost immediately he drew our attention to several items that were overcharged, as well as suspiciously high labor cost. I asked Chris to contact the customer to inquire how much faith she had in the mechanic. After pointing out the discrepancies in the estimate the customer was able to get a third estimate for much less than what was originally quoted. We strongly suggested Mrs. [redacted] deal with another mechanic but she has repeatedly refused. At the time of sale complimentary 90 day warranty was included and it has been suggested they be contacted. In regards to Brian [redacted], it was neither stated nor suggested that he was the owner of Consumer 1st Auto Group. It was simply explained to Mrs.[redacted] that Mr.[redacted], had a better practical working knowledge of the car mechanics than Ms. [redacted].
