Continental Currency Exchange

Their online OneCard [multi-currency loadable debit] Card was down at least 2.5 days Mar. 1-3. No phone agent was available, one could only leave a voicemail message. My first message was not returned after 1 day. My second message the next day was returned saying that the site would be available by the afternoon and in the meantime they could not quote me an exchange rate nor allow me to exchange currency on my card until the system was up later. Also if I want to close my account I must do it in person at a Continental Currency location for a fee! [I think it was 1% of my total holdings!]. I was waiting years for this card to be launched, and then they are not distributing any new ones/accounts for about 1 year now as they are waiting to improve it and add more currencies. It was a great product at the start but all of the problems in the meantime have dissuaded me from using it and promoting it.

Went on line to see what the exchange rate was for DOP's. I wanted $1000.00 CAD exchanged. This was on a Friday Dec 29. I called the Limeridge Mall location to see if they had DOP's to exchange. The teller told me they did not so I said I would simply order them on line. She told me that some were coming in and that I could pick them up on Monday under my name and she would order them for me and I would get the seniors discount. On Friday I woudl have recieved 39,000 DOP's for 1000 CDN however on Monday I received 37,700 DOP's. I checked the Kantor rate and there I would have received 40,530 DOP's for 1000 CDN. ***. No more Continental for me.

They are not the lowest rates. Ordering online from bank is much cheaper than ordering online at continental. Not sure how they can claim they are lowest and than state guaranteed!
