I took a laptop to CONTROL ALT DELETE because it was overheating and turning off. Now it is overheating faster and the fan doesn't turn on at all.I took a laptop to CONTROL ALT DELETE because it was overheating and turning off. The man there said he cleaned dust and dog hair out of the laptop and applied a substance to make it better and charged me $75.00 labor and $25.00 parts. Now the fan doesn't operate at all so the laptop overheats faster. When I went back to CONTROL ALT DELETE and explained the problem the same man became very emotional and defensive and said I was rude (I was not)and that I had accused him, although he did not say what I had supposedly accused him of. I did not accuse him of anything, I just said the problem was worse than it was before I took it to him and asked him to look at it. He said, "Now you want your money back". I had not mentioned money and told him I wasn't asking for a refund, I just wanted my laptop fixed. He said he would look at it for free if I left it for 2 days but he wouldn't tell me exactly what he would do for me or what the final cost might be. When I asked for details he said he doesn't want to work on my laptop because I'll cause problems for him. Desired SettlementSince the man I spoke with was so difficult and refused to accept any responsibility for the result of his service I am not interested in having him work on my computer again. I would like the $100.00 back because I now have to pay someone else to fix the problem he claimed to have fixed.Business' Initial Response Ms. [redacted] brought her laptop for overheating and turning off issue. We performed a free diagnostic and told her it is causing due to animal hair getting stuck on the fan blades on top of the heat sink. And it shuts down because if the laptop reaches a certain temperature it is supposed to shut down from overheating. Her power adapter also was heating up extremely hot and she already ordered another power supply adapter. She does not understand anything about electronics. She is very good at blaming, accusation and screaming to people. There are two other employees present while she was here. Everybody was shocked the way she insulted my [redacted]. Our business takes pride of customer service. We are recognized by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts two years for outstanding customer services. Sometime we deal with kind of unhappy arrogant customers which does not help small business owners anywhere. They will not show these kind of attitudes with big companies such as bestbuy, walmart or staples. This lady is trying to twist arm and get service for FREE. We are not the manufacturer of her laptop. We cleaned her animal hair which was stuck on cpu fan and applied some CPU glue so that it keeps the CPU cold. Parts and Labor was reasonable ($75 + $25) same day. Our sign clearly states all sales are final and there is no money back of service we provide. The problem is not the laptop in our opinion, it is her - not handling the laptop properly and blaming everybody. When she brought in the laptop she was screaming in front of other employees saying this laptop does not turn on. My [redacted] pushed the power button and it turned on in front of her. My [redacted] said to her "it works for me, mam", she angrily said "But it does not work for me". Go figure. Thank you very much. Consumer's Final Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)Clearly, this guy does not know how to accept responsibility for his "services" rendered. I paid him $100. to fix my laptop; he claims he cleaned it and it worked fine, but after he "fixed" it it was worse. Obviously, this guy can't admit he misdiagnosed the problem. By the way, it is interesting that he insists my computer was clogged with animal hair, since I don't have any pets. It is now being repaired by a professional who knows what is wrong and how to fix it. I can't be bothered with small claims court. That would mean I have to deal with him again and it is just not worth the aggravation. I have talked to several people who had the same kind of problem at CTRL ALT DELETE and we will continue to spread the word that they can't be trusted.Business' Final Response We already stated our explanations. Thank you. We don't have time for this. She broke her own laptop and blaming us. We charged $75 for labor + $25 for arctic silver. We did not replace the fan. It is the animal hair in her house clogging up. We cleaned that. She should call the manufacturer who built this laptop, we did not. If she is not happy let us settle at the small claim court. We have all the paper work and can get testimony from other employees. Thank you.
