I had lost some important data on an external hard drive a long time ago. I did some research on finding a reputable company that can restore the data in the fastest way. I read a lot of reviews about Control Alt Delete's Data Recovery Services and decided to use their services. From beginning to the end, when, the service was very professional and they kept me informed of the process the entire way. Emails were answered very quickly and they delivered the final product with my lost data as promised. I definitely recommend using them for your data recovery issues. Talk to Tom, he really is a genius.

Company charged *** more than three times the local rate to repair computer. An error was made when it was reformatted. Computer no longer functions.
Brought Asus desktop to Control Alt Delete on the morning of *** Word documents were freezing and not syncing to One Drive. Was told by *** it needed to be reformatted and would be ready by 5 pm that same day. Got a phone call from ***. He said he needed more time and to pick it up on Saturday *** Received another phone call from *** on *** stating he needed all of my passwords to reformat the computer. When I inquired why, he got defensive and said "What, you don't trust me. I've been working on your computer for 18 hours"! I ended up giving him the passwords. He then said the passwords I gave him didn't work and he would repair the desktop without it. *** then informed me that he still needed more time. I eventually received a phone call from *** stating me the desktop was "all set" and proceeded to pick it up on Monday *** He didn't review any work he had done. He just said your computer is working like brand new and when you get home reinstall office. I then paid him $350 on my Visa credit card and left. On *** I went to turn on the computer and noticed that most of the previous apps were gone and the few that remained wouldn't open. Not even Windows or Chrome, were accessible. I called *** and he told me to hover over the app icon, press Ctrl button and + sign to restore window. That didn't work. I then researched other computer technicians in the area and scheduled a home visit with another computer repair shop that is accredited with the Revdex.com. Upon arrival the other technician was shocked. He wasn't able to get Windows or anything open either. *** claimed it took him 20 hours to reformat the computer, he should have charged me *** but was charging *** as a courtesy. According to the other technician it takes approximately 2 hours to reformat a home personal computer and the charge shouldn't have been more than *** My personal computer is currently not functioning. I also have over 10 years-worth of photos and videos that are now at risk for being lost due to the poor services at Control Alt Delete. In addition, on *** when I initially went to the shop, *** was being very flirtatious and even asked if he could touch my face because it looked so soft. As a female customer, that was very inappropriate and unprofessional. The fact that I was triple charged for services and my computer is still in need of repair just adds further insult to injury. On *** I called Control Alt Delete and reported my complaints. The manager *** became very hostile, denied my request for a refund and hung up the phone on me. According to his business card he claims to have an A+ rating with the Revdex.com. I went to the site and discovered that he doesn't have an A+ rating and already had two complaints against him this year.

Desired Outcome

I have no faith in Control Alt Delete's ability to repair my computer. The *** for initial repair and *** for secondary repair from another company, not to mention time, I have lost just add to the frustration of the situation. I'm a mother who works full time and goes to school full time. I am in my final semester at the *** to *** on-line program and rely heavily on my computer to complete all of the required assignments for my degree. *** was aware that I needed the computer for school and took full advantage. His behavior is appalling and his business practices are sketchy at best.

A *** When a computer is formatted you loose all application. We backed up up 702GB of data to our server, i.e. documents, pictures and videos. I repeat 705 Gigabyte full of videos and pictures. She informed she will install her MS Office which she has the license and Norton Antivirus. It took almost 6 hours to do this. She came and picked it up. Now she is playing games. We need the information of the computer store she went and what they found and did on paper. She is accusing us about behavior? That is ridiculous. No refund or return for the job we did. She called the following day and never said anything about it. Now she is complaining about everything including character assassination. In our opinion she is a *** If needed we will provide the paper work. Thank you

I purchased a computer that was defective. The owner/employee became furious when I wanted to return it.
Timeline:
June 26, 2017: Purchased refurbished laptop from Control Alt Delete. Intention was to use it as a spare. Used laptop occasionally at home with keyboard plugged in for ergonomic purposes.
Late July: Needed spare laptop, attempted to use without keyboard. Keyboard was defective.
August 21, 2017: Brought in laptop. Owner claimed I had spilled something on laptop. I didn't remember anything, but we'd transported the laptop to a friends' house, and it had been on a desk near plants. Maybe something had spilled? I paid for repairs, picked it up later, and left it in a filing cabinet.
September/October: Tried using laptop again. Keyboard worked except for spacebar. I dropped it off with business.
Oct 10, 2017: Owner left message saying I'd spilled something again.
Oct 11?: Called business and said that I wanted to return the laptop, that this wasn't working out. Owner became furious, claiming that I was trying to cheat him, that he knew about people like me. I quickly ended the conversation.
Oct 12?: Called *** and disputed the charge.
Nov 22: *** said because of uncertainty of timeline, they could not say laptop was defective on arrival.

I should have handled this situation differently. I bought a refurbished laptop and didn't check carefully to make sure it worked well immediately after I picked it up. This was careless of me. That said, I have owned laptops most my life and always noticed when I have caused accidental damage to them. It seems bizarre and unlikely to me that I would have done so and not noticed, twice, with the same laptop, that I barely used.

Desired Outcome

I would prefer to get some of my money back from the laptop that I now believe was delivered defective. If that is not possible, I would like the laptop mailed to me, as given the owner's loss of temper over the phone, I'm no longer comfortable going into the store. And I'd really like the Revdex.com to reconsider its A+ rating of this business.

6/17/2017: Please find attached the order form and documentation, including print out of text message between the customer and our owner. The customer bought the laptop on June 26, 2017. Before she bought she tried and bought and paid $243.31. It was a clean working mini Laptop.

7/27/2017: She came back with the laptop saying her keyboard is messed up which had liquid damage. We opened up we saw liquid damage inside also. At this point we took pictures and texted to her cell phone to show her. Please see attached print out of damaged keyboard and the cell phone text message. She approved the cost to fix that and also ordered 8GB of Memory to upgrade. We ordered and installed a new keyboard and upgraded her memory to 8GB. Cost was $185.

8/21/2017: - The laptop was picked up on 8/21/2017 and paid.

10/2/2017: - The Laptop is back again and she stated the space bar on the keyboard is stuck, sometimes. Everything else is working fine. We found bread-crums underneath the keyboard. We cleaned and called her to come and pickup.
On the phone she was blaming us with name calling and threatening us to ruin our business reputation by complaining to Revdex.com. She never came to pick up the laptop. The laptop was used extensively.

Comments: Now, she is trying to bring our reputable business down by leaving bad remarks on different websites. We are looking into a liable cause. This is outrageous and taking advantage of small businesses. Breaking electronics and asking for a money back? We dispute all claims. She also was denied by her credit card company for money back.

I'll delete the reviews for a full and complete refund, and you can keep the laptop. If you'd like it to be as though you did not yell at me on the phone and as though you did not accuse me of trying to cheat you when I was trying to resolve a situation of a laptop that repeatedly had the same error, then let's erase it fully and properly.

Otherwise, I'd prefer to leave the reviews up in case other people have this very perplexing and upsetting experience at your business.

'I went to Control Alt Delete after reading all the great reviews on *** and *** and bought a refurbished laptop. I like to support local small businesses, and *** seemed knowledgeable but condescending. I'm young-looking and female, and he kept calling me sweetheart until I asked him to stop and please use my name. Then he got quiet and angry. So that was awkward.

Then, the laptop was a lemon. The first time I brought it back, *** said it had a spill. No one in my house had spilled anything on it to our knowledge, and we'd barely used it because we'd purchased it as a spare. But I'm far from perfect, and maybe it got a splash when I wasn't looking. I paid for the repairs and shrugged it off. It sat in storage for a while again.

When I pulled it out to use, the keyboard mostly worked, but the space bar was sticky. I took it back to ***, who said I'd spilled something in it again. When I said I hadn't, and I just wanted to be done and return the computer to him, he lost his temper and started yelling at me. He said he knew about people like me, said I was trying to cheat him, and that he'd defend himself. I really don't know what happened here, especially given all the positive experiences everyone else has had. So, I hope my experience was just an outlier."
