This seemed very real! I guy with a Russian accent called me and asked me if I was attending the convention. I said yes, and he told me the block of rooms was sold out but he could give me a better read. He said he was going to send me and link to my email. He since the link, but I did not click it. I asked him what the link would have on it and he said just your name, your credit card information and how many nights are staying. So then a new it was a scan. Turned out to be a scan. He was just looking for credit card information. What made me so suspicious? His Russian accent.
Saved us money and time. Thanks so much
Review: This company is contacting the exhibitors for a conference that I'm planning and claiming to be the official housing company for this event. They are trying to secure credit card information for hotel room nights. I have confirmed with our hotel that they do not work with this company and my conference has not authorized them to contact our attendees. This is a scam!Desired Settlement: Cease and desist immediately.
Review: We have received word from some of our conference delegates/speakers that this company has been contacting them to let them know that they haven't yet booked their hotel for the conference and to please call back to reserve their rooms at a hotel that we are not using for our event. We have one designated hotel for our conference delegates that we have been directing them to reserve rooms at. This company has been referencing our company name in their phone calls and misleading delegates to believe that it is our staff calling them.Desired Settlement: We would like for this company to stop calling our delegates and would also like to know how they are gathering the information in the first place.
