The customer's car was brought in October 8, 2015 and paid for October 19, 2015. The entire frame for the car was brought to me loose, not attached. This removal was done elsewhere. I'm assuming the customer removed or had someone else remove...

the frame. The frame was freshly painted but not installed back into its original position. I had a problem reinstalling the frame. He did not mention to me that his frame was bent. We will address this later.
After the new top was put on the car the side rails were not sitting straight on the frame, which means the front header was not sitting high off of the windshield. There wasn't a sound reason for this to sit this way, possibly the top had to stretch out.
When the customer picked up the car he mentioned the fit. I told him it may be the top had to stretch out in position and if there was a problem later give me a call which he did. However, he didn't call about the car for 3-4 weeks.
I decided since there was problem I would go to his home on a Saturday which is a day we are closed to see if there was anything that I could do for him. While working on the car at his home he mentioned to me the convertible top frame was bent. He had not told me this when he brought the car in originally, which explains the side rail problem and header bow problem which was the cause of his fit issue.
There was not a three time call on this car. The original and my trip to his home were it.
The scratch. I have every intention to have it taken care of; the scratch only - not other damage to both quarter panels which were there when he brought the car in. The customer had to be aware of this in advance. This damaged was caused by the convertible top sitting on the quarter panels which were done prior to bringing his car in to have the convertible top installed. The customer was aware of this which he mentioned to me when he originally brought the car to me. It is not my intention to pay for any prior damage to his car.
Regarding the customer's estimate for repair ranging from $1600 to $4000. I have contacted a collision center I do work for. An estimated price without seeing the car to blend in the color would be $300.00. If the entire rear clip had to be painted the price would be $1400.00.
This estimate is by a long established auto body shop. Since the car owner had his car painted by someone he knew at his house instead of a business specializing in this work having a paint booth which is temperature controlled to give a quality result, you cannot expect the resulting quality to be the same. The customer's choice of painting caused his car to have paint flaws.
I have been in this business for 38 years and I have worked on several Corvette's in the past without incident. My record with Revdex.com is clear.
