Cook Engine Inc Reviews (4)

First to address the cleanliness of the engine compartment. We were unaware that there was dust and pollen in the engine compartment until the customer had taken the boat away from our location. I cannot confirm nor deny that there was unreasonable amount of debris that had entered the
engine compartment from mother nature while we had the boat in our care. If there was enough to cause a concern I feel we would have noticed and done something about itSecond communication during a job is always made when decisions need to made and money is being spent, we will take responsibility for not always calling when there is no update to be made and we are aware we have room for improvement in this area. Not as an excuse, but as information, a seasonal business like ours is hard to man during the upswing of need. boating in Oregon is a month season, and in this industry the amount of service facilities has lessened over the yearsThis makes it very hard to communicate often with the amount of load that is put on the office personnel.Third, the idea that we carelessly just walked away from the over head door the second time the technician left the boat house "Causing" the overhead door to destroy it's own belt, is fairly insulting to us. We have been servicing boats in Portland in peoples boat houses all over portland for the past yrs. specifically the technician that replaced this mans carburetors has been here for approximately years. in all that time he has been able to successfully close a garage door without any problem. Being that this garage door apparently needs special instructions to close, I am wondering why this would not be posted near the buttons that control this I do not know. We were only made aware after servicing the vessel that the garage door needs to be stopped at the end of its cycle. The customer was present during the first carburetor replacement and opened the door for us, this makes me believe he knew we would need to test run the boat and would need to open the door to release exhaust fumes.Lastly, we have tried to put a stop to this dispute and emailed him 9/12/agreeing to replace the belt for him, to help restore his faith in us, However now that he escalated this issue using the Revdex.com, we do not feel we should be condoning this type of complaint

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because, the company email on 9/12/offering resolution was received after the Revdex.com complaint was filed & flowing through the Revdex.com website, so there was no way for me to respond in time to stop the Revdex.com processing of the dispute.I would accept the offer, but as you can see, the other party is not easy to deal with at allThe offer was made only after full days of stonewalling, deflecting and hand-wringingI just now replied directly to their offer stating simply "if you were willing to help me fix the belt, then why not just say that from the start?"In which case, we'd already be good to go
Sincerely,

Dear Mr. [redacted]:Cook Engine, Inc., represented by this office, has requested we contact you regarding defamatory statements you have made about its professional reputation and activities. It has come to our attention that you have made defamatory remarks about our client and its principals both in...

writing and in oral statements made to third parties, including a number of individuals involved in the boating community. You have also threatened to further damage our client’s reputation in the boating community should our client fail to comply with your demands. Such remarks are harmful to their professional activities, have caused them damage, and are legally actionable.Specifically, we understand that you have been dissatisfied with repairs made to your boat by several local companies, and have attempted to use your defamatory remarks in order to coerce these companies into providing you with either a refund or additional services at no cost. Our client has completed the task it was hired to perform, and does not intend to refund money for services already provided or provide additional services at no cost. Our client is considering pursuing legal action for damages already incurred as a result of your defamatory statements. So as not to further aggravate our client’s damages, demand is hereby made that you immediately cease and desist from defaming our client. In addition, demand is made that you refrain from making any further contact with our client or its principals and employees, as your past communications have been both threatening and unnecessarily aggressive. In the event you do not immediately cease and desist from making defamatory remarks, our client will have no choice but to consider pursuing legal action against you without further notice.

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:

Cook Engine Rather than trying to resolve the issue has instead decided to try to bully and intimidate me into dropping this complaint by threats of unfounded legal action.
This is the very definition of the same coercion they have falsely accused me of. Then they go on to say I have been making defamatory remarks.
By definition defamatory remarks have to be false statements or false allegations, I have done nothing but state the clear unbiased facts of the matter, all of which are backed up by irrefutable proof, eye witnesses, and photographs.
Rather than trying to protect their reputation by threating people they should instead be trying to foster a good reputation and relationship with their customers through good business practices.
I have attached a picture of the port shaft riding on the edge of the stern tube after Cooks Engine charged me to align it and the starboard side. I have also attached a picture is of the Starboard stern tube with the shaft removed,
It can clearly be seen from the wear on the bottom of the shaft tube that this shaft was riding on the tube as well after the alignment attempt by Cooks Engine.
These shafts should be somewhere close to the center of the tubes when correctly aligned. They should as well exit somewhere close to the center of the exit hole.
I think just about anyone who looks at these photos can see that the shafts were grossly misaligned, and that the wrok done By Cook Engine was not properly performed.

Sincerely,[redacted]
