Paid business for repair services that they failed to do properlyOn approximately 8/13,I, [redacted] entered into a agreement for repair services with Cooke's Garage on my[redacted] The vehicle was having several mechanical issues, such as, racing engine while idling, engine stuttering, difficulty starting, and engine cutoff. I paid Cooke's garage $962.81 on 10/13 when he stated it was repaired and picked up the vehicle. I returned the vehicle back to Cooke's Garage because I had difficulty driving the vehicle home, it was exhibiting the same problems as before. Cooke's garage then kept the vehicle for approximately 10 additional days and charged me an additional 124.51 when I again arrived to pick it up. After working for three days, the vehicle again began to malfunction, I again returned to Cooke's garage, and he refused to complete any further repairs. Desired SettlementI am seeking a full refund from Cooke's Garage in the amount of 1,087.32 for improper repair services.Business Response Dear Mr. [redacted],I refer to your letter received from the Revdex.com dated 9-18-14. Firstly, I would like to note that the repairs to the [redacted] were made 10-4-13.The vehicle was towed to Cooke's garage by a wrecker service due to the fact that the starter would not turn over. After completing a diagnostic check on the vehicle, it was determined that there was a faulty ignition switch on the car. During the inspection of the vehicle, it was noted that the vehicle had bare wires twisted together in several places and also burnt wires from previous electrical shortages on the vehicle. The concern over the vehicle's wiring and future operating condition was expressed to Mr. [redacted] when he was advised of the cost of the ignition repair. The vehicle had a shorted out module and computer. Mr. [redacted] was also advised of the cost of these items prior to any repairs being completed.With permission from Mr. [redacted] to complete the required repairs to get the car started again, the ignition key and cylinder were replaced and recoded, the melted wires in the dash, the shorted out module and computer were replaced. The vehicle was in running condition after the completion of these repairs. However, due to the condition of the wiring systems in the car, Mr. [redacted] was advised when he picked up the vehicle that future problems could be expected from car. The car was brought to the shop for a starter problem and the car left the shop in good running condition.Mr. [redacted] returned to Cooke's Garage on 10-14-13 due to the vehicle not idling well. He also stated that it would cut off at times, but it would restart. As a gesture of good faith, a mass flow air sensor was installed on the vehicle at no labor charge to Mr. [redacted]. Mr. [redacted] was sold the part at cost.At the time of the second repair, Mr. [redacted] was reminded of the previous concerns over the vehicles wiring system. He was also advised against investing more money into the vehicle in its current condition.I appreciate the opportunity to respond to this complaint. Unfortunately, Mr. [redacted] feels that his vehicle was experiencing the same problem as when it was first brought in by wrecker service to Cooke's Garage. The vehicle was brought in not starting and not running. Thevehicle drove away from the shop in running condition. It is felt that other problems experienced by Mr. [redacted] are a result of the vehicle's condition and faulty wiring.Sincerely,David CookeCookes Garage
