8 years and 2 Dachshund puppies
I bought Max 8 years ago. When you get a puppy, you are getting a new family member. He was wonderful! Normal puppy issues. He passed in November 2021. I contacted the same location! I reserved Grimm. Normal puppy issues. He has fit into my family fantastic. 2 puppies, 8 years apart. Same buying experience. All the complaints I read are for people that will complain and post on a dime. The ones that are happy are busy loving on their puppies. As Grimm sleeps on my lap this morning, I highly recommend Cooks Weiners! 8 years apart and two fantastic dogs!

similar poor experience 7 years ago . Picked up 4 year old long hair , that was emaciated , had parasites and flies , also black teeth . Was not going to take him , but wife insisted we "recue " him . Our personal vet verified the many issues . It took almost a year to bring him back to health . He is now 11 and a happy , loving boy . The conditions at the Cook's is horrendous . They deny that anything is wrong with their dogs or pups. Stay away !

[redacted] and [redacted] were a great help in finding us our first dachshund puppy. They were professional, affordable and understood our needs. The puppy had parasites, but he can easily contract them from the mother. She even sent us a check to cover the cost of the vet visit and his parasite medicine. We are already looking forward to getting our second puppy from cooks wieners!

Review: Review: I was so excited about purchasing my new puppy from this breeder (though the 73 dogs on the property and in the house should have been a huge red flag!), until I got my puppy home and within 13 hours, she was in the ICU. The vet hospital informed me that my puppy was GIVEN TO ME VERY SICK with a parasite, kennel cough, and a bacterial infection (none of which were being treated). When I contacted the breeder (since she claimed to care so much about her puppies) she simply stated "the dog was fine when you picked her up". Today our puppy is still on antibiotics and has been since she was in ICU. I contacted the breeder several times asking the following after providing pages of hospital documentation from Dogs and Cats Veterinary Referral & Emergency Services and [redacted] Pet Hospital. I am requesting a refund of $795 for the cost of our puppy and assistance with paying the vet & hospital bills.Desired Settlement: I am requesting a refund of $795 for the cost of our puppy and assistance with paying the vet & hospital bills that have totaled about $1600.00. I have all documentation that I would be willing to fax or email to you.

[redacted] purchased [redacted] on 9/14/13 kept together with two other Fitters. [redacted] was eating and, drinking and playing with the other puppies. None of the other puppies are sick or have been. [redacted] called saying puppy was sick ,first it was parvo viris. That could not have been so because all the puppies would have died along other puppies in kennel .When I told her that, then it was kennel cough. [redacted] was, Taken to [redacted] for her Vet exam she passed ok no worms or parasites or any other problem. I always take my pups to the Vets for exam a week or so before they are picked up. lf I am told they have a problem ft’s taken care of right then. Dr [redacted] found nothing wrong. If it was kennel cough all my dogs would sick. I told her that, then it ended up being dehydrated. She had along trip puppies need water often , because they are small. You also should not have them where air conditioning blows on them directly. When she left she was given food that the puppy eats and was told to make sure puppy has water. As of date I have not seen info from her VET. We have a contract and lemon law .1 told [redacted] that if puppy would be returned I would be returned I would return her money. If the puppy would have died I would replace it or return her purchase price. I believe that the puppy was dehydraterd. It was not when she received it She had a five hour trip give or take .1 don’t know what after she left. My kennel is state inspected . have sold puppies 20 plus years without any problems. If a puppy has a defect 1 always make it right. I don’t think the dehydration of this puppy was my fault. My dogs are out to run many times a day to keep healthy. My kennel is clean ,and heated and cooled. [redacted]

Response:

Dear Mr. Baker, In reviewing the correspondence relating to the complaint I filed with the Revdex.com, against [redacted]’s Weiners, I would like to elaborate further. I sent a non-refundable deposit of $200 by money order to Ms. [redacted] about two weeks prior to making the purchase of the puppy. I understood that the deposit was non-refundable; therefore, I had to purchase the puppy or forfeit my deposit upon arrival. I drove for four hours on Saturday evening, September 14, 2013 to purchase a puppy ([redacted] Rose) for $795 from Ms. [redacted]. My best friend and I arrived to her home around 6:30 pm to meet and make the purchase. Ms. [redacted] took us into her home after explaining to us that she currently has 75 dogs on her property. This concerned me because she advertised the puppies as AKC certified, but didn’t seem sure who the father of the puppy was. She handed the puppy to me and I handed the puppy off to my friend so that I could use her restroom. In going through the home (to get to the restroom) I was a little concerned about the amount of dogs in the home and the smell. Ms. [redacted] and I sat and discussed the contract and the remaining balance which I paid $550 in cash and gave a check for $45.00. She gave me some puppy food and I asked how many times a day the puppy should be fed. She replied that she just leaves a bowl of food down and the dog eats when hungry. We concluded by going over the New Puppy Packet and her shot record of her first shots. We left Ms. [redacted]’s home about 7:30pm to make our way home. Though I am not a veterinarian, the puppy appeared to be ok for the exception that we noticed on the drive back that she continued to keep coughing, so we had to keep stopping to give her water. I arrived home Saturday night at about 11:00 pm and gave her the food that was given to me by Ms. [redacted]. On Sunday morning the puppy was vomiting and had terrible diarrhea. I contacted Ms. [redacted] immediately and asked her what was wrong with the puppy. She stated the puppy was perfectly healthy. I responded she was not healthy and I was taking her to the vet. Re: [redacted]’s Weiners Complaint ID [redacted] Upon taking her to [redacted] Pet Hospital Sunday morning, they ran several tests and advised the puppy be rushed to Dogs and Cats Veterinary Referral Hospital ASAP. After evaluating the puppy at Dogs and Cats Veterinary Referral Hospital, I met with the doctor who informed me that the puppy had several things wrong including being profoundly hypoglycemic (which was causing the seizures), had Giardia, Coccidia, and severe Kennel Cough (clearly none of which had been treated). When I asked the doctor what I did wrong, she responded that I did nothing wrong, but that the breeder gave me a very sick dog and there was no way this puppy got as sick as she was in the short time I had her, overnight. Our puppy was discharged Monday night, September 16, 2013 with three medications and instructions to feed her every three to four hours (around the clock) to be sure she was eating and drinking. In looking at Ms. [redacted]’s medical record, she last had the puppy to the vet on August 27, 2013, did not pick up the puppy until September 14th, two weeks after she had the puppy checked. It is very possible the dog became sick after her last visit. In looking at the hospital records I have from the Veterinarian Hospital, the puppy was clearly very sick before I picked her up. She did not become as sick as she was in the short time I had her in my possession. Though Ms. [redacted] states I never sent her vet reports, I have proof that I sent her copies of all the vet records/bills on Tuesday, September 17, 2013. In looking at the Pennsylvania Puppy Lemon Laws (#3) which states "To preserve your rights under the Law, you must take your newly purchased dog to a licensed veterinarian for examination within 10 days of the purchase. If a veterinarian determines, within 10 days of purchase, that your dog is clinically ill or has died from an injury sustained or illness likely to have been contracted on or before the date of sale and delivery, you have the following options: a: Return the dog for a complete refund b: return the dog for a replacement dog of equal value OR c: Retain the dog and receive reimbursement for reasonable veterinary fees, not exceeding the purchase price". Therefore, I am requesting part "C" of the Pennsylvania Puppy Law, a full refund of the cost of our puppy, $795.00. Attached you will find the final hospital report from Dogs and Cats Veterinary Referral & Emergency Services, final bills & refund from the hospital, final bill from [redacted] Pet Hospital, and the report from [redacted] Pet Hospital. You will also find my copy of the signed contract. Thank you for your review and consideration. Please feel free to contact me for any further assistance. [redacted] Enclosures (11 pages In looking at the Pennsylvania Puppy Lemon Laws (#3) which states “To preserve your rights under the Law, you must take your newly purchased dog to a licensed veterinarian for examination within 10 days of the purchase.
