Cooney Construction Reviews (5)

In response to [redacted] 's accusations, we would like to keep it professional & factual only.(1) [redacted] verbally stated on several occasions during the building process, "I do not care if I ever finish this project", he has kept it his word. He continues to use the system to drag out the completion of this project. If we are the '1' per cent that is unsatisfied, then we are the only customers of [redacted] construction that expected "quality" custom work. Had [redacted] took pride in his work, we would not be here explaining this to you. (2) On several occasions we both witnessed [redacted] exploding with anger towards his sub-contractors using profanities. He was seen throwing his tools, hoses & anything within his reach when we did not agree with him. He could not get along with his own son, Eric who was fired by [redacted] during the building process. [redacted] is a very abusive individual & has anger management issues. (3) [redacted] was never threatened on this property by either one of us. He was on the building site several times without other workers here, not once did he ever suggest that he felt threatened by us. He was always here on the building site by himself when he wanted to be paid. [redacted] came out to our property April 2015 to discuss his final payment, he requested that he receive the final payment before he left for a vacation. We made a verbal agreement at that time that he would complete the repairs when he returned from vacation. Once again, we trusted [redacted] that he would keep his word and complete the repairs in a timely manner. He only expressed a "fear for his safety" after he received the final payment.(4) We have worked with several of his sub-contractors during the building process without any issues, they were very easy to work with. We can provide names & contact information if anyone would like to verify this information. We have since hired some of them to finish some future work on our property. I'm not sure who [redacted] B [redacted] is referring to, maybe he needs to provide proof of this accusation. (5) Per [redacted] 's statement, "he especially showed his disdain towards anyone who was Mexican/American", we had requested that someone be on the job site that could translate as we do not speak Spanish. We did request to have the stucco corrected, it took three times before it was done right. [redacted] was more than accommodating to help anyone of the workers who needed assistance in starting their vehicles, regardless of race. The company that did the cleaning of the house were also Mexican/American, we had no issues with them or the work they performed. I will attach the e-mail that was sent to [redacted] B [redacted] after they finished. So unless [redacted] B [redacted] can provide proof of this accusations, he is slandering his customers. (6) Per [redacted] B [redacted] 's statement regarding item #2 on the contract, the cleanup was discussed & agreed upon at the beginning of the project that it would consist of picking up construction garbage, sweeping floors every night after the contractors were finished. This was done every night & weekends without any complaints from any of the workers. We have requested that [redacted] B [redacted] remove the stucco from the gutters & downspouts. This should have been done when the stucco was applied, we did not agree to remove stucco during the construction. [redacted] B [redacted] was paid to supervise this project, I believe this was his job, not mine. (7) Per [redacted] 's statement regarding the damaged downspout, I did ask him to contact the sub-contractor who had installed the gutters to replace a damaged downspout, I told him I would pay for it, which I did. I NEVER asked him to pay for it, that is a lie from [redacted] . The damaged rain gutter above the garage was damaged during the construction process, the stucco on the rain gutters was applied by a subcontractor. One of [redacted] B [redacted] 's subcontractors applied taped to the downspouts when they were removed to apply the 2nd & 3rd coats of stucco. [redacted] B [redacted] made an attempt to remove the stucco from the gutters & downspouts, when he realized that they would be damaged if he removed the stucco & tape he stopped. He has since tried various schemes to push the responsibility on the subcontractor as well as the homeowner. So if this was my responsibility to "clean" the gutters, why would [redacted] attempt to remove the stucco from the gutters & downspouts?? 8) In reference to the 'other' repairs, Bill Benson from Homewood & [redacted] Ryan of Ryan Construction are doing a professional job re-installing the entry door. They removed the 'Home Depot' repair that [redacted] B [redacted] had used, added the missing parts that were left out by [redacted] B [redacted] when he made the attempt to install the entry door. We are still waiting for parts for the door. Milgard installed the glass, again very professional & courteous. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us.Thank you, [redacted] & [redacted] ###-###-####© [redacted]

I have been in business for over thirty years with ninety nine percent happy customers. mr and mrs [redacted] are by far the most verbally abusive people I have ever delt with. on several occasions I have feared for my safety on the job site. he has many times gotten into my personal space screaming at...

me. Because of this I avoid personally entering the property. Many other people who worked on the job will not go back because of his behavior, he especially showed his disdain toward anyone who was Mexican /american. he is a person who should be on medication. However I have still tried my very best to achieve a good outcome to this job. item number one on his list. clean getters and downsprouts if you look at the contract on page 2 item to be all cleaned up except finish cleaning of home this clearly states mr. [redacted] is responsible for the cleanup of his gutters and downspouts also on page 3 the contract states all digging of ditches for water and electric this also included downspout drainage piping when performing this Mr. [redacted] damaged or destroyed one downspout with a backhoe he asked me to fix it I confronted him that the damaged the downspout himself he he admited to that and paid for the repair I have no doubt that he could have damaged other parts of the house I do not believe that anything concerning downspouts and gutters are any of my responsibility As far as any of the other items that he is complaining about the entry door the windows with defective glass and the vent for the kitchen hood are all being repaired as we speak. I I have forwarded emails to you and will continue to so that you will see that this work is being performed thank you. [redacted]

Review: [redacted] Construction, contractor license [redacted], [redacted] was contracted to build a new house. He is refusing to warranty the necessary repairs to the rain gutters & downspouts which damaged during the construction of the house. We have three issues, rain gutters have stucco plastered on them, one has a dent in it and downspouts have stucco & residue from tape that was put on by the contractor. We would like to have all repaired or cleaned to new condition.Desired Settlement: We want the rain gutters & downspouts repaired or replaced to new condition, that is what we paid for
