Cooperstown Stay, Incis NOT a management companyEach property owner manages their own place.? Therefore, Cooperstown Stay, Incdoes not collect any refundable damage deposit; no one on our staff can possibly be in every place when each guest arrives or when they depart to observe the condition of the propertyInstead any refundable damage / security deposit is collected by the host / property owner (manager) and it is held against damage or misuse. In this case, the complainant met briefly with the host upon the guest's departure.? The owner did not thoroughly examine the property before she left because previous guests had always left his place in very good condition.? After the guest left, as he began to look around he found the following:Excessively dirty and messy beyond the normalAssorted clothing items left throughout the houseWater and Gaterade bottles strewn about thoughout the house and on the lawn, including broken glass in the driveway, as well as by the hot tub and fire pitMissing towelsWine stains on carpet and in grout lines of tile floor (Professional rug cleaner had to be brought in to properly clean for next guest coming later the same day - above and beyond cleaning expense.)Apple tree stripped of apples (within reach) - which had to be hand picked because they were mostly thrown across the creek and were on the island.Cigarette butts all around yard. The host / owner / manager said that he would have overlooked and forgiven any one of the items, but collectively he felt it was excessive.? The host is apologetic about not being able to receive phone calls as he is a contractor and did not have cell service where he was working this summer here in the foothills.(If a person does not leave a voice mail, his cell does not register the call when out of range.)? When the complainant called Cooperstown Stay, Incregarding this issue, I personally took her call.? And yes, I did tell her that we are not the property managers and that the damage deposit was between the guest and the host, but that yes, I do try to facilitate communication.? And yes, I did tell her that it appeared she and the host had differing opinionsIt is regrettable that she felt it necessary to say unkind things about Cooperstown Stay and the host because he did not acquiesce and return her $damage deposit. My question to Revdex.com:? Where do we file complaints about guests or customers who are not accountable and / or do not take responsibility for their actions?? During the years that I have been doing this, guests have been very respectful of the private property they have rented.?

It is regrettable that she felt it necessary to say unkind things about Cooperstown Stay and the host because he did not acquiesce and return her $300 damage deposit. My question to Revdex.com:  Where do we file complaints about guests or customers who are not accountable and / or do not take responsibility for their actions?  During the 18 years that I have been doing this, guests have been very respectful of the private property they have rented.
