You may think it's my fault, but Copper Construction (Travis F*) took advantage of me, overcharging for my house and then by not providing warranty work as agreed and required by NC Licensing BoardLet me say, I had no prior personal or even family or friend experience building a house It all started well and cordial with the basement and framing progressing, although very slowIt took over months for them to dry it inAt the time we signed the contract, we settled on blue prints which were filed with the permit office and a priceWhenever I asked about something that fell under the category of allowances he said I was covered and not to worry about itmonths into the contract, Travis finally provided an allowance schedule that was less than 10% of the price of the houseStill too dumb to know any better, we proceededA few upgrades were authorized and documented via Change Orders of which only were signedAdditional changes were quoted orally at one price and then showed up on the invoice at a figure twice as highWhen it came time to close, we had a significant gap in my accounting and what he put on the invoiceHe attempted to over charge me for several allowance items for which I refusedI caved in and settled on a price and allowed him to buy his way out of the punch listNow that he has his money and is out of my house he has NOT addressed the warranty items that I have brought to his attention I think the most disappointing thing about the whole ordeal is the quality of the finished productI have an album of pictures that I will share with anyone interested that speak for themselves

We hired Copper Construction to pour a concrete slab and build a shed attached to the back of our house There were several things that happened on both of our parts that delayed the start of job so we asked Travis to come back out to confirm all the details and pricing He did and we agreed to his new price This is were all of the trouble started He likes to call himself a "handshake" guy This is great and how we like to operate as well, but he does not actual remember what he agreed to We asked for our shed to be built exactly like the sunroom that is on the back of our house in order to meet our HOA requirements This included roof pitch, siding, trim and all finishes We also asked for an out-swinging door with a window so as to maximize our usable floor space in the shed I received a call the morning that he was supposed to come build the shed saying that if I wanted a door with a window it would be $more dollars Not sure how that is possible because our price included a door with a window His crew came out and built the shed but the roof pitch was wrong, the wall was bowed, the wrong corner trim piece was installed and he put an in-swinging door on it We expressed our concerns about all of these issues and we heard all of these comments back..."I couldn't find an out-swinging door", "I choose an in-swinging door because then your hinges are on the inside so no one can pop them off and steal your stuff", "we never talked about the roof pitch" "that roof pitch is a 6/and that is what we built" "That is the only corner piece they have" We then said we talked to his crew about the issues and his response was, "you are not allowed to talk to them, they don't represent me" Well this is very confusing because they are from his company who I am contracted with??? We then set a day for him to come to discuss all of these concerns and make a plan to fix them My husband left work to come home for this meeting, well Travis never showed up He never called When I tried to contact him, he responded shortly and said, "I will call you soon as I get done pouring concrete" He later told me his concrete truck was hours late on his other job, so he was waiting for hours but couldn't call his afternoon appointment to say he wouldn't make it? This is frustrating as a customer His crew did come back to rebuild the shed and fix the issues, unfortunately he just wanted to get the job done and get out of here and his work demonstrates that We went to Home Depot and purchased the out-swinging door that he couldn't find While my husband was there he received a call from Travis asking him to pick up additional supplies to complete the job During this whole process on several occasions Travis asked us to run and pick him up supplies stating, "it would really save him some time" We do have shed We have an out-swinging door they he barely attached to the walls only after we pointed out that he installed it and it was only being held in by finish nails in the trim We have siding that is not attached back to the house because when he came to do the punch list he didn't bring a ladder and couldn't reach it He response was, "you can climb up on the ladder and snap that in later" He never cleaned the concrete off the siding that splashed up from the slab pour, even though he stated he would We have a sloppy repair after they removed the support for under our house door during the concrete pour The threshold of the shed door has no support under it so we will have to fix that or it will break if we continue to drive our lawnmower over it The shed did not come with any gutters despite the sunroom that he was matching having gutters The door did not come with a door *** We even agreed to cover some of the additional costs for the rebuild to try to get him to build it correctly We were going to discuss this at the meeting he never showed up for, but he confidently handed over an additional bill with some random number he came up with When we asked him were the deduction was for the door and other building supplies we had to purchase for him was, he got very angry and stated that we didn't want to pay him This was a horrible experience If we wanted to be this involved in this project we would have built the shed ourselves Instead we are very busy and wanted this done for us so we could enjoy some more space in our garage This turned into a nightmare I trust nothing that he has said I don't have any confidence in his work I have never experience such ridiculous customer service that included cussing at me and putting his hand in my face and stating that he was no longer talking to me In addition his crew filled our yard waste container with construction trash I emptied it and brought it to his attention He did not apologize but rather stated his crew didn't know I asked him to not use that can anymore Well when he came back and rebuilt the shed you can get he again put his trash in the yard waste container

You may think it's my fault, but Copper Construction (Travis F[redacted]) took advantage of me, overcharging for my house and then by not providing warranty work as agreed and required by NC Licensing Board. Let me say, I had no prior personal or even family or friend experience building a house.
It all started well and cordial with the basement and framing progressing, although very slow. It took over 3 months for them to dry it in. At the time we signed the contract, we settled on blue prints which were filed with the permit office and a price. Whenever I asked about something that fell under the category of allowances he said I was covered and not to worry about it. 3 months into the contract, Travis finally provided an allowance schedule that was less than 10% of the price of the house. Still too dumb to know any better, we proceeded. A few upgrades were authorized and documented via 5 Change Orders of which only 2 were signed. Additional changes were quoted orally at one price and then showed up on the invoice at a figure twice as high. When it came time to close, we had a significant gap in my accounting and what he put on the invoice. He attempted to over charge me for several allowance items for which I refused. I caved in and settled on a price and allowed him to buy his way out of the punch list. Now that he has his money and is out of my house he has NOT addressed the warranty items that I have brought to his attention.
I think the most disappointing thing about the whole ordeal is the quality of the finished product. I have an album of pictures that I will share with anyone interested that speak for themselves.
