Review: We hired Copperleaf to remodel our master bath and closet. We were quoted a 4-6 week window for the job to be completed. Work was started on 7/6/15. It has now been over 4 months, 11/6/15, and the job is still not complete. Over a month ago we had to threaten legal action and have daily calls and or emails trying to confirm completion. We have heard multiple excuses, and delay tactics from the owner. We cannot currently use the new shower, vanity/sinks, or toilet as they have not been completely installed. There have been multiple problems with the construction that have been reported and mostly ignored. Based on our experience thus far, we do not have confidence that Copperleaf is willing or capable of fully completing this project. We are also concerned about the quality of the work that has been completed.Desired Settlement: Here is the list of items that Copperleaf still needs to complete or correct:
*Install hardware for bathroom door
*Vanity top installed with faucets and working plumbing
*Shower glass/door/hardware installed properly
*Correct the toilet seat that was installed improperly
*Painting/caulking around baseboard
*Touch-up painting on walls
*The wall behind the vanity was never painted even though we were told several times it would be. There are areas on the side and bottom where the unpainted wall is visible.
*The stain on thresholds between bathroom and adjacent rooms is seeping into the grout on the bathroom floors.
*A large crack or gap has formed between the newly built bedroom wall and ceiling.
*The A/C Vent in bathroom doesn't appear to be working. We discussed this problem a couple of months ago. Nobody has actually checked it and confirmed that it is functional.

Review: I signed a contract with [redacted] at Copper Leaf on March 1st of 2014. After many phone calls and actual visits, the job finally started 8 weeks ago. He had lead us to believe he would be starting the job in 30 days when the material arrived. The plumbing contractor is doing all be the electrical work--he only works a couple hours per day as he doesn't have any supplies here, even while tiling, he was always short of 2 or 4 tile and had to make a 1 hour trip each way to get the items--so he would just wait and come the next day. Now [redacted] wants a progress payment, I have refused to give him any money until the job is done. HE has had $6,880.00 since March 1st another $3,440.00 on August 1st. The status of my bathroom todaay--there is minimal dry wall that still needs sanded. the tile work is done and the rough plumbing and electric is done. we are currently in week 9. Everytime I ask a question-it is always the contractors fault. Many things that we specified in the design are not in his plans, I have had to go out and purchase the shelves in the shower myself. The contractor did stop and get the niches--but he had to remove tiled areas to put these things in because I didn't know they were omitted. I had spent 2 hours at a bathroom speciality store, who spent 2 hours with my husband and I.They gave us our estimate and were the designors for our bathroom. I went to another bathroom speciality store the staff was rude--and basically I told [redacted] that I wanted all my products purchased at the store I gave him the quote and list of all items. Today by a slip of [redacted]'s tongue, HE says my things are sitting at the place I specifically told him I wanted nothing purchased from--he stuttered and said wherever they are! I called the store he was to get all my supplies from and they have order in my name or in any Copper Leaf accounts awaiting pickup. Copper Leaf also opperates under the name CKB Design Group, LLC. This eperience with [redacted] has been difficult and I have learned that he is dishonestDesired Settlement: I would like my bathroom finished. I want the products I specified installed. If he ordered from a place I said not to from the beginning, I am now concerned that I will be given inferior products for the top price.

Response:
In response to [redacted]’s; this is not about the price or the
distribution of funds. He is concerned
that I am withholding what he calls the progress payment, as I am waiting for
some progress. It is true I paid him in March,
he had no problem sitting on my money for months instead of starting the job
when the supplies were in, which supposed was in 30 days.
The contractor doing the job is doing good work!
He only works a couple hours per day. Now 9 weeks are over and I have
the tile work done. [redacted] says that is
due to changes I made—that is hog wash and he knows it! He failed to put the information on the drawings;
I only noticed that after the tile was up. I also noticed that the drawings don’t
show that the medicine cabinet is recessed—so that area will have to be removed
or whatever is necessary to install the cabinet.
The counter top---I have no idea where his statement is from
where I would buy from him—he sent me to a place in Slate Lick, PA, months ago.
I told them my first and second choices, but never heard anything from
[redacted]. A couple weeks ago I called [redacted]
to ask about the counter top and now he sent me to a place in Cranberry to pick
something. Which I did; I went ahead and
paid for it when I selected the top.
As far as [redacted], I only know what [redacted] says, when he doesn’t
have what he needs here to work with. I did not hire [redacted] I hired Copper
Leaf-telling me, if I have a problem with the time this is taking, I should
take it up with [redacted]! Not very professional.
The statement which I feel I should quote “Currently the project
is 80% complete with 75% of the contract paid.
All supplies to start job were purchased of which 80% of those were
delivered to job site during week one.”
During week one, the only supplies delivered were those necessary for
rough plumbing and tile work. I as of
now, don’t have any toilet, faucet, med cabinet, light fixtures, allow me to say the products that were to be
ordered from Splash totaled around $5000. On top of that is a custom made
stationary glass shower panel. So as you
see I don’t have 80% of products here.
Last week [redacted] couldn’t work, as [redacted] didn’t have anything delivered. He
didn’t even have primer so we could start painting.
The open policy as to where supplies are purchased is as
untrue as I can state. I made it very
clear I wanted nothing ordered from [redacted]’s. Of course, [redacted] did not even
take my opinion into consideration. [redacted] doesn’t realize I am the consumer, he
is providing me a service; not the other
way around.
Now to address the start date, [redacted] doesn’t mention that
after many calls, I stopped in at the store, he told me personally he would be
starting my job the week before [redacted] showed up at my door. I was ready, no one showed
up. A secretary told me that she didn’t
know why he would tell me he would start then because he was away. She gave me
the date [redacted] showed up, but said she would verify. I never received any
confirmation. I have placed many calls
to [redacted] he rarely takes the call and is to call back in10 minutes—the next
day he has still not returned the call.
He fails to communicate that no one is going to show up—I am just to sit
around and wait. I am sick to death of this waiting. My bathroom is 5’X9’ the
time frame is unreasonable.
I have never been late on a payment—My contract was signed
so long ago, I had not remembered. When [redacted] called I immediately sent the
check. I was not comfortable sending it
with [redacted], but that is what he instructed me to do. I don’t think [redacted] should be involved in the
business aspect of this-not his responsibility.
As you see, I don’t feel that a progression payment is
reasonable when there is so little progress.
He fears I won’t pay him, well as things are going, I am the one at risk
here.
I want a date that is engraved in stone for completion! I
want workers here for 8 hours per day getting this job done. I should not even
need to request such a thing.

Response:
In response to [redacted]: [redacted] spoke to Mr. [redacted] on Tuesday, September 30th and made a plan to be there on Monday October, 6 2014 with the plumber between the hours of 8-10AM. There have been a lot of things said on both sides, but at the end of the day, Copperleaf wants Mrs. [redacted] to be happy with her bathroom. We will arrive on Monday and deliver the material that we ordered; however, as discussed with you on the phone, we do require payment of $1,700 upon delivery. At that time, we will make a punch list and give a final date of completion. Upon completion, final payment will be due and payable directly to the contractor on site. Our hope is that his will be acceptable to Mrs. [redacted] and we can move forward to complete her bathroom.
