Also, we appreciate the invitation to return however will not be going back. We do feel that take out or eat in provided you with an opportunity to obtain a new customer and you blew it!

Review: This restaurant participated with [redacted], in which I purchased a $25 gift certificate (with special instructions being: min. purchase of $37.50, terms and conditions being: only 1 restaurant specific gift certificate may be redeemed per party, per month, per restaurant, even if the party is seated at separate tables and/or receives more than one check, not valid for taxes, tips, merchandise or prior balances, valid at this restaurant only, cannot be combined with any other promotions, coupons or special offers). Last night,I called in an order to be picked up by me. Upon my arrival I was greeted by [redacted], the [redacted], who advised me that my total was $87.15. I presented the gift certificate and my debit card only to be told that I can not use the gift certificate for a take out order and that I can only use it if I eat at the restaurant. I disputed that because the gift certificate does not state anywhere, eat in only or no take out orders. [redacted] said the certificate says "this restaurant only and that means no take out- but I believe that really means not to be not Poughkeepsie or Hyde Park Coppola's. [redacted] went and asked the [redacted] for permission to honor it and was told No, however he would extend a 10% off discount. By that time it was 7pm and we were starving so I just paid the bill and told [redacted] that I would never be back. I also let her know that this is false advertising and asked why they even participate if they weren't going to honor the gift certificate and she told me "they do not make money on those, it's just a promotion to get new people in" -- well, I was a new person trying it for the first time and instead of being charged $62.15 I ended up paying $$78.44 (plus the tip, which was $15 based on the original check amount of $87.15). I feel like this is extremely misleading and that this restaurant should be reprimanded for their poor business practice. They need to put EAT IN only on the gift certificate (like other restaurants who participate do) or do not participateDesired Settlement: I would like to restaurant [redacted] to apologize for false advertising and to either honor the gift certificates as written, amend the terms and conditions or withdraw from the restaurants.com program rather than embarrassing customers by denying use of the certificate. I also believe I am entitled to a refund of $16.29 (since they already honored 10% off the initial check amount)

Response:

The business has responded. Please read below:

Dear Representative,

I would like to apologize for the misunderstanding. We are refunding the customer a check of $16.50 for her disappointment. [redacted] certificates are sold by them and we do not make any profit on them. This was the first time someone tried to use them on takeout as they are a promotion that we participate to get people to come in. We also take pride in our product and all our pastas are cooked aldente although on takeout once in the container they keep cooking because containers are sealed. Our products are fresh. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience and displeasure. I would like for you to be happy and if you do come in again, I would like to personally apologize and offer your table a gass of wine. Please let me know if you do come in and we will pay extra attention to your order. Again, my apologies.
