Dear [redacted], I received a complaint letter on behalf of Coral Bay Apartments from customer [redacted]. In her letter she stated her desired settlement is to be refunded back the $99 holding deposit. On 8/10/2015, I refunded the $99 and contacted the former applicant to...
inform her of this credit. She was satisfied with my response and was glad that we resolved it. If you have any questions please let me know. [redacted]Assistant Community Manager Coral Bay Communities [redacted]

Review: I applied for an apartment at this community on 7/14/2015 and the requirements for applying for an apartment is not only to pay a $40 application fee but I also needed to add a $99 'holding deposit'....there was no option just to pay an application fee and get approved for an apartment. I wBased on the terms of the holding deposit it was clear that I had 48 hrs after approval to make a decision on the apartment and either move forward with moving in or receive my money back. At 5:18pm on 7/16/2015 I received an approval letter from [redacted], one of the leasing agents at Coral bay apartments, notifying me that I was approved for the apartment. 18 hours later (11:30pm on 7/17/15) I called and spoke to [redacted] requesting the refund of my $99 refund, since I was well within the 48 hr period where I am eligible to receive a refund, and she refused to issue the refund. When I preceded to ask the reason, they lied and said they sent out an 'approval notice' on 7/14. When looking through all of my email as well as spam the only email I received from the company was the one I received immediately after submitting my application , which stated that [redacted] would be notifying me about the status of my application in a few days. In fact the next email I did receive from the company was just that, and email from [redacted] stating that I was approved. Clearly, this is a complete freud and scam to keep money from potential tenants because 1) they make it a requirement to pay a holding deposit upfront just to apply and see if you'd get approved for a one bedroom apartment in their complex and before you've identified the apartment you actually want. 2) They wait until after the 48 hr application period has past to approve potential clients so they can make up any excuse as to why you haven't received a notification letter of approval from them.Desired Settlement: I just want my $99 'holding deposit' refunded back to me
