Review: I brought my 2010 [redacted] flex to the Coram car wash to be completely detailed in early august of 2014. The total cost was $250. I went inside and paid, then gave the guy who worked on it, ([redacted]) a $20 tip. When I got in my car I noticed that the armrest was broken and would no longer latch shut. [redacted] agreed with me that it was not broken when I brought it in and they must have broke it. We brought out the [redacted]) to see what they where going to do about it. I was told that they would replace the broken parts. I text him all the information he asked me for including pictures and my vin # . [redacted] told me [redacted] had to take care of it out of his own $. I got a run around from [redacted] that lasted from august up through November. Throughout this time we texted back and forth over 25 times. During this time I was also keeping in touch with [redacted] to let him know what I was dealing with. In November I got in touch with [redacted] and said this is ridiculous I need this taken care of. I told him I was very unhappy ,and needed immediate action. He then made it my responsibility to find the part and price it out ,instead of taking care of it himself. I looked online and couldn't find the exact parts, so I went to [redacted] and showed them the damage and they told me the model # 06024, and it would cost $312.30 + tax.I got in touch with [redacted] and gave him the price and the model, and told him it could not be returned once it was ordered. He told me to buy it, with my $ and give him an itemized paid receipt for that price and he will give me the $. I got the part on Dec [redacted] and told [redacted] it was in. He asked the price again and when I told him $339.24, he said that too expensive, he would not pay that amount because he could get it cheaper online. He said he could get it for $225 and thats all he would pay. After arguing with him in over 35 text messages about how unfair this was ,I ended up meeting [redacted] on Dec [redacted] and getting a check for $225 because I at least wanted something, and he refused to pay the remaining $114.24.Desired Settlement: My desired settlement would be that I get paid the rest of the $ I layed out for the part, in the full amount of $114.24.

Response:

The detail on [redacted]'s 2010 [redacted] Flex was performed exactly as requested . The job was done so well that after he thoroughly inspected the vehicle with the detailer and my manager he did in fact , as he stated give the detailer "[redacted]" a $20 tip for such a great job . After [redacted] drove off he then returned claiming that we broke the latch on the center consol . At this point the situation was brought to my attention with [redacted] . I inspected the vehicle and can confirm that the latch was in fact broken . When I spoke to both my detailer and manager they both confirmed to me that this was how the vehicle was brought in that day and they had nothing to do with this as it was broken prior to that day . It is in fact incorrect that my detailer acknowledged responsibility for the repair as stated in [redacted]s complaint . I had no intention what so ever to accept responsibility for this but when the complaint was made and [redacted] explained in fact how good of a customer he was and that his entire family in fact comes to my Car Wash as well . I then out of courtesy alone of trying to maintain good customer relations decide to pay for his part . I passed the handling of the part to my detailer as he was familiar with what part was needed . He immediately found the correct part on line and mentioned to me that is was around the $225 . I said fine call Heath and tell him we located the part and want to confirm all with him so that we were all on the same page . For the longest time there was a game of "phone tag" played unfortunately with Heath and my detailer [redacted] at no one persons responsibility just bad timing . My detailer [redacted] also states that there was a long period of time , weeks in fact that his phone calls and text messages went unanswered completely ! Very confused , I did not want to order the part and get stuck with it so I said lets wait for him to return your messages before we do anything . A period of time later Heath started calling us back and at this point a while had passed since the original incident he was claiming . He was upset at how long this was going on so I decided to take over the situation and just handle it myself and try to get this done ASAP . I then explained AGAIN that we had in fact located the part on line and the cost . He said he said he called [redacted] directly and was quoted a much higher price . I said of course the dealer price will be higher , but Heath was hell bent on ordering this part from [redacted] obviously and for what reason I have no idea because we found the exact same OEM part just cheaper . I said order the part and just give me a paid receipt and I will take care of it . I have no idea what made Heath order the exact same part from [redacted] that we found almost 50% cheaper on line and told him so way before he ever ordered the part from [redacted] . So when he called me and told me he got the part from [redacted] I was furious for 2 reasons . 1 I was paying for a repair of a part that we had no part in the breaking of and 2 he way over paid what I told him he could get the part for . When I explained this to him on the phone HE made the suggestion to just pay him and he would accept the $225 that the part would have and should have costed and so I agreed to pay him . I then met with him shortly after and gave him a check for exactly what I would have paid with shipping and tax if I ordered it online . Then I receive a letter from the Revdex.com of his alleged complaint . In no way what so ever am I or my detailer accepting responsibility for this damage as I was told by 2 sources my manager and my detailer who both went over the car as usual prior to the detail that this was a preexisting damaged part . I only offered to pay for the part to be a good business [redacted] and out of respect for the business he and his family gives us at the wash which I appreciate to the highest degree . I also will not pay the difference of a part price that I and my detailer had told him was much cheaper than what he actually paid . I didn't have to give him anything but I did as I said earlier out of courtesy and respect for his business . Unfortunately some people feel that they can use a car wash as a personal ATM to fix , repair , replace or purchase items they desire . It is something unfortunately all car wash [redacted]s seem to have to be forced to deal with as I am told by numerous colleagues in the business as well . That's exactly what is happening here . He had a broken part prior to the detail then tried to blame us for it after . And even after out of courtesy after I pay for it he is upset that I wouldn't pay the highest market price for the part in which he paid and honestly isn't my fault either ! If he would like free car wash services that equal the amount of $114.24 I still would gladly do that for him as I offered in the past about the price discrepancy . Which I do not even have to offer but again , trying to be a good business [redacted] and appease a client will go to that length . If that doesn't suffice for him then I consider this [redacted]er closed as I feel I have gone way above and beyond what any car wash [redacted] would have ever done for him in the first place .
