We picked up approximately pieces of furniture from Mr*** house on June He had contacted us and asked to consign some furniture to the auction house as he was moving to a different address At the time of pickup Mr*** was advised that the items would be sold at
auction and the price would be dependent on what people were willing to bid for the items on that day He was also advised that there would be a pick up fee of $per hour for us to send a truck with two men to come to his house and pick up the items All of Mr*** items were sold between July and November for a total of $1,Retail value of an item is not relevant in an auction setting as value is determined by the buyers and what they are willing to pay for the items on that particular day Mr*** has been mailed checks for his proceeds minus the auction commission of 30% and the moving fees for the pick up at his residence When meeting with Mr*** at his residence, he was provided a contract which he signed The contract states that “All said goods shall be sold to the highest bidder with no minimum bid….”, “Items not sold after a good-faith attempt at Sale, shall/will be donated to charity or disposed of in another manner.”, “Seller understands it may take 6-weeks to auction all items”, and “I have been clearly informed and advised, both verbally and by this instrument, that Corbett’s Auction House is an absolute auction and does not set or guarantee reserve prices, minimum bids, minimum opening bids or selling prices on any item consigned or offered for auction."Corbett’s Auction House provided the items for auction as presented, the items were advertised prior to auction on our website and three other websites While we understand Mr and Mrs*** were disappointed by the results of the auctions, we fulfilled our responsibility and sold their items to the highest bidder in the auctions

We tell every customer that we provide an inventory of items after the saleFor us to provide a complete item by item inventory prior to sale would cost the customer hundreds of dollarsAs for an inventory of this customers items, they were
all PRE-BOXED by the customerThe boxes were all closed and sealedWe then store the boxes or items until the week of auction at which time the items are removed from storage and openedThe items are then re boxed to smaller open display boxes and renumbered with the original lot numberAlthough there may be items in the original box some items are sold separately but some items are bulked together, so there may be items in every boxWe track each customer by a lot number, the lot number is attached to the items sentThe items are then sold at auction and an inventory is written as items are sold and logged attached to her lot numberWe have checked and double checked and checked again in our inventory and are confident that ALL of the customers items were auctioned and a complete inventory has been provided.This customer was also invited to come to the auction and help unpack her boxes but declined

I was never invited to help unpack and the auction procedures were not explainedI did not receive a contract until the truck showed up to load the boxesI wrote down the time that they arrived, finished loading and departed the storage area minutesEven rounding that up to hour it should not take horse to get from Santa Fe Drive to Windsor CO and back, which totaled $Your response still does not account for the check that I received and returned for items auctioned on behalf of someone elseCorbett Auction still has not explained their lack of communication with the customer, poor customer service regarding returning phone callsAdditionally what process failed that you are unable to keep track of whose property was auctioned that you are sending out checks to the wrong customersWhen an auction house is getting a 30% commission, customer service and accountability should be a guaranteeAuctioning of ones property can be emotionally trying and stressful as it isCorbett Auction needs to make sure that they thoroughly explain their practices to the customer before the auctionEnsure that the all related costs, including mileage, and a detailed inventory is providedI was almost charged for the disposal of a couch that was not mine, and sent a check for that was not mineObviously there are some errors in the system

This is our second response, we feel that we have done everything possible to satisfy this customerOur staff have been interviewed and questioned about this complaint and have all stated that we did everything we could to resolve this issue

Corbetts is currently being sold and transitioning from old owners to newIn a matter of a few weeks the new owners will be in place and paying any outstanding consignments

I am rejecting this response because: They misrepresented their service and feel they were allowed to give away our good, new and quality made furniture for next to nothingThey said no inventory sheet was given to them, which it was on day of pickup and to indicate the cost of all the items which we did They were not only late in auctioning items they were late in paymentThe service they offered does not reflect at all the results they say they got from our thingsThey rely on their contract to give away your items rather than showing any duty of care to you as a client who have entrusted them with your itemsThey outright lied that we did not provide an inventory because they then itemized the things they sold for pennies on the dollar and any of the other items they forgot about they just said they gave them to chharityWhen we started seeing through this dishonesty of the service they sold us on we indicated we would pick up all items that were not soldThey did not get back to us at all and sent us tiny checks saying they sold the items and the couches in particular for a 5-year old *** *** furniture piece set for $when it cost us $and originally listed for $As I told the owner Sunny, if she couldn't sell the stuff for its tax deduction value of circa $we would donate it to a charity who was willing to pick it up Lastly, it behooves me how they can stay in business if they get $for furniture and items they sellWe feel we have been scammed at the very basic level and request either our furniture back or a payment of $2,- we will give them back their paltry checks for $12, $and $which we have kept as evidence and non acceptance of their service
