Cordova Cars Reviews (4)

My wife [redacted] bought this car and it is unsafe to drive. We were told that all issues would be fixed but same issues come back just weeks later. This car was completely paid for up front 8 monts ago. 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. It had a few issues such as check engine light on, warning light about tire system on, as well as a gas cap error light on. The sales associate [redacted] assured my wife to bring it in the shop for repair and all issues would be fixed. We have left the car there on 3 different occasions. Upon getting the car back it seemed the error lights were off until we drove it a few days and slowly all come back. The motor mounts were supposed to be replaced and now the engine almost falls out of place when hitting gas from a stop. The wiper blades were dry rotted and were supposed to be replaced but never were, never gave us the floor mats we requested either. We had a "supposedly" new tire completely shred out on us while driving with our 2 children last week which almost caused an accident. That was the last straw for me. Now no one will return our calls about complaints. I demand a refund or a safe vehicle to drive!Desired SettlementI either want my money back or a replacement vehicle that is safe enough to drive my family around in. Evidently the service department there only knows how to put a band aid on the problems long enough to get rid of the customer for a few weeks. I do not want them touching this car again unless its to have it back.Business Response For the record, the customer who purchased the car was [redacted] individually and not [redacted]. The vehicle was delivered in "as is" condition. All repairs were completed on the car upon delivery. The customer was offered an extended warranty and declined this option. We have not recieved any phone calls regarding any complaints or isssues with the vehicle from the buyer or any other party. The complaints are all everyday mechanical or parts issues that customers are totally responsible for 8 months later after purchase of an "as is' used vehicle.

Unethical sales practice, and quality of product misrepresentedProblem Date: March 7, 2014; Purchase Date: March 5, 2014; Model: 2005 [redacted] GX 470; Sales Rep: [redacted]; Payment Amount: $13,400; Payment Method: Personal checkSales rep stated he was fired from his former employer, then bashed them and their business; I bought the vehicle with an understanding that the price was reflecting the "theft recovery" status on the car fax. Ironically enough, two days after purchase, I noticed a "shuttering" when going 30-50mph, and the lights on the dash came on. I know lights can be turned off on these vehicles and will stay off for 2-3 days. When I called the sales rep regarding this issue, he said he "isn't in the business of buying cars back." He obviously didn't want to help me, so I started researching what this could be. After researching, everything led me to transmission. I also went to Cordova Cars' website and noticed they offer extended warranties for their used inventory. I was not offered any type of extended warranty, which makes me think the sales rep was aware of some type of mechanical issue. I went back to the dealership in search of some answers, and maybe some help on the matter, and was unsuccessful. When I noticed I wasn't getting any help from [redacted], I asked if there was anyone else that could be the judge of the conversation. His response, "I am the judge. And the jury", no apologies, sympathy or any evidence that he would even try to help me. I have never in my life been treated with such poor service or with such a poor attitude. Today makes 2 weeks since purchase. I had the transmission serviced with fluids changed, and it still shutters and the lights came back on. I feel like I was sold this car under false pretenses with the sales rep knowing there might be something mechanically wrong. The vehicle was listed for too long for this to be a coincidence. The fact that he first stated the dash lights came on because of a faulty gas cap, the price of the vehicle, and the statement he made about not being "in the business of buying cars back" makes me think the car fax was conveniently used so that he wouldn't be stuck with it. The car was listed for at least 3 months, so I can't see how in the 3 months he had it, the lights never came on, but I have it for 2 days, the check clearing the bank within these 2 days, and the lights just-so-happen to come on. I understand things happen, and this could all be "coincidence", but all of the information I have doesn't seem to add up. I now have a vehicle that I am not satisfied with, have no idea how much money this is going to cost me, and now the displeasure of knowing this human being.Desired SettlementIdeally I would like to give the car back and get my money back with an apology, especially after my question of "how do you stay in business treating your customers this way?" His response, "Honestly you're a one time customer. If I were to make it right with you, you still wouldn't come back and buy another car from me." However, I would be satisfied if the dealership or the individual covered the cost of repairs at the Lexus dealership, so that I could have a peace of mind that it was repaired correctly.Business Response Customer purchased [redacted] GX 470 with 105,224 miles on March 5 ,2014 from[redacted] a broker / dealer who works out of Cordova Cars. He responded to an on line add. The listing had a link to run a [redacted] report. He signed the report at the time of purchase. The report disclosed BRAND REBUILT SALVAGE HISTORY. It also disclosed 21 service records at [redacted] Service Centers. This vehicle had been serviced to [redacted] requirements. The complaint he is having is common with [redacted]. It is not something that you can fix by turning off a light to pass off to the next person undetected. Customer returned with light on dash "check engine" and complained of a transmission shutter.[redacted] performed a OB2 scan on the ECM. The problem code was relayed to a torque converter solenoid. This is a serviceable part. He wonted the repair to be performed free of cost to him.[redacted] re-mimed him he had purchased the vehicle AS-IS as do all customers who purchase a used vehicle. He responded "Can You write a warranty to cover the repair so that I can then get it fix under warranty " [redacted] responded NO! That would be insurance fraud.[redacted] made him an offer to purchase the vehicle back for $1500.00 less. He replied no and left the dealership.

I purchased a 2002 [redacted] from Cordova Cars on 9/17/13. The salesman and finance manager told me that the vehicle had been inspected by their mechanic and that I only needed to bring the vehicle back to get it cleaned and detailed. Two days later (on 9/19/13), the engine light came on and the car started leaking oil. I took the car back to the dealer and was informed by the mechanic ([redacted]) that he never inspected the car. He said he left early unexpectedly because of an emergency with his wife and did not get a chance to service the vehicle. He said he was surprised when he came back to work and the vehicle had been sold. [redacted] worked on the vehicle and assured me that the problems were fixed. The problems remained and I continued to take the vehicle in for the same problem. I took the vehicle back every week (sometimes twice a week) and they continued to say they found a different problem and it was now repaired. I decided to take it to a mechanic and was told what the problems were. I then spoke with the owner of Cordova Cars ([redacted]) and he asked me to bring the car back in and that he would get a different mechanic to work on it. After they worked on it the last time, I asked him to give me paper work to show what was done on the vehicle and he refused. The same day I picked up the vehicle after their other mechanic worked on it, the vehicle was worse than it was before. It continued to leak oil, the engine light was still on, and it started to make terrible noises. I then took it to [redacted] Automotive. They ran a diagnostic and determined the car needed a new engine. The warranty company refused to pay and suggested I take the vehicle back because Cordova Cars knew the damage was done to the car when they sold it to me (see attached report from Mathis Tire). Cordova Cars was deceptive when they sold the vehicle to me. They knew the vehicle had not been inspected by their mechanic, but told me that it had been inspected. I purchased the vehicle because I thought it had been inspected. I would not have purchased the vehicle if they had told me it had not been inspected.Desired SettlementSince I have already paid to have the vehicle repaired ($2,250), I am seeking half of the repairs ($1,125.27) from Cordova Cars. I sent the owner ([redacted]) a fax on 10/21/13 and I also called him to let him know I would like him to help pay for the repairs. He did not respond.Business Response This is the first that we have heard with regards to this issue. The customer, purchased this car 5.5 months ago. When it was purchased, it was purchased, "As Is." As do all customer, the "As is" was explained and the customer signed the required State of Tennessee "As Is" statement. In addition to this, the customer purchased a warranty to cover any issues that she might have with the car once the car left our lot. Cordova Cars has done no warranty work on the car and has been asked to do no work on the car. Obviously, we cannot be responsible for work done by others and certainly can't be held responsible for a problem that is now 5.5 months from the time of purchase. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I do not agree with the response from Cordova Cars. They are not being honest when they say this is the first they heard regarding this. I am attaching text messages where this issue was discussed. The text messages show where I began communication with them after I purchased the vehicle in September. There are even responses from them that shows that they attempted to repair the vehicle. This proves that I contacted them in September and that they worked on the vehicle after I purchased it. They refused to give me any paper work showing the work they did on the vehicle; I guess they did not want a paper trail showing that I contacted them and they worked on the vehicle after I purchased it. The fact that they attempted to repair the vehicle shows that they acknowledge fault that the vehicle was not serviced prior to my purchasing it. Cordova Cars is being dishonest in their business practice. See attachment for text messages and other information regarding this case. Final Business Response We regret that Ms. [redacted] had this problem. However, Cordova Cars is not responsible for the cost of repairs done by another individual. The car was purchased as a used car and was purchased "As Is." The customer was well aware of this at the time of purchase.

The Company failed to properly repair my vehicle as promised. I am still having some of the same original issues since the day I drove the car home.Purchased a 2002 limited edition chevy camaro 3/19/13. Prior to the purchase when I initially drove the car the rear end made a whinning noise. I had a certified mechanic to look at the car and he stated it needed the rearend replaced. THe agreement by Cordova Cars (the place I purchased the car from ) was to fix/replace/repair the rearend. They kept the car for two weeks prior to my purchase stating they were fixing the problem. After that on 3/19/*13 I purchased the car. The car came with a 30 day/1000 mile warranty from Cordova cars itself. Plus I purchased an extended powertrain warranty for an additional 2*,000/2years. I was told by [redacted] from Cordova cars to drive the car for at least 500 miles to break in the new gears and if any problems within a month to bring the car back and they would fix ANYTHING wrong with the car. The day I drove the car home the rear end still whinned, the check engine light came on before I made it to my house. I called [redacted] while I was driving and told him about what's going on with the car. He told me to bring it back the next morning which I did. The mechanic took about 15 minutes and said it was a vaccum hose. So I left. The car continued to have problems, engine noise, emergency break didnt work and would not go through inspection. I called Cordova cars back and was told once again to bring the car back. The mechanic at that time only addressed the issue of the emergency break and adjusted it. The car continued to make rear end noise and engine noise. I called and was informed that was normal it will make some whinning because it's a sports car. I made at least 10 trips to Cordova cars about the issues. I asked for paperwork regarding the repairs and was never given the paperwork. SO I took the car to [redacted] in Southaven and was told that the rear end has problems, and the engine would need to be taken out to fiqure out whats wrong with it. SO I went back to Cordova cars to tell them about this and they kept the car a few more days to have their mechanic look at it and to have [redacted] come back out to re-look at the rear that [redacted] supposedly repaird. After about another several days I was told to come get the car and that it was ok. Still when I picked it up it was not fixed properly. I then decided to take the car to [redacted] in drummonds TN [redacted] and he call the warranty company ZURICH and so much stuff was wrong with the car that ZURICH sent someone to [redacted] shop to look at the car before they would approve to have it repaired. THe car needed the rear end repaired/ water pump/ oil leak/emergency break/antifreeze leak/engine light on and off/knoch senors needed possilby replacing and engine knocking/noise. [redacted] kept it for 2 weeks ordered new rear end gears and replaced them. THe car rear end still whinned even after he replaced them. So he had to re-order new higher end gears and he replaced the gears with the newer higher priced gears. He has taken the rear end down at least 10 times and no success. He is calling ZURICH back today as the car is now in his shop. He stated to me today on 7/18/13 that it appears the car was raced/ has nitrous oxide used in the past and possibly may not be able to have the rear end fixed properly with just replacing the gears. He stated it may will have to have the ENTIRE rear end replaced and not just the gears to fix the whinning nose in the rear end. He has also notified the warranty company ZURICH that the engine is making a knocking noise and needs to be addresssed. Eventually, [redacted]s was able to fix a majority of the problem with the rearend, but not entirely. THe entire engine needs to come and will probably need to be repaired/rebuilt/or replaced. ZURICH, wants me to be responsible for cost to take out the motor. Please call me I am in need of asstance. I was never disclosed that this car was raced.nothing but problems since I purchased this car.Cordova cars should be responsible. [redacted]Desired SettlementI prefer a complete refund. I was never informed that the car had been raced and had used nitrous oxide in the car for racing. The car was NEVER properly repaired. Even the day I drove it home, the engine light came on before I made it to the house. [redacted] told me the day I called him after getting home in my drive way that they would reapair EVERYTHING at no cost due to the fact I had just driven off the lot. NEVER happened. I went back repeatedly with a witness and my car was NEVER fixed properly and they refused to give me the paperwork to show what repairs they did to the car. I still have no paperwork to show what repairs they did to my car when they was keeping all those days. I cant get the car repaired because its going to cost too much money to have it fixed. [redacted], the owner of [redacted]s in Drummonds Tennessee actually called [redacted] at Cordova Cars and told him EVERYTHING that was wrong with the car. [redacted] was told "wow that a lot" and that [redacted] and I needed to speak with the owner. I left message after message for the owner and NEVER got a return call. I left more messages and still no return calls. I want my entire 13,000 back. Ive had nothing but trouble and heartache. THis car is a "beautiful car" but a piece of junk. I feel that they knew the issues with this car and didn't disclose them. I feel that they made false claims to repair my car each time they kept it but failed, even to this day to provide me with the paperwork showing what repairs they made. I am requesting a full refund in order to keep from going to small claims court. If not solution is found, I will sue.Business Response [redacted]: I am in receipt of the above noted complaint. The customer, [redacted] purchased this car 11 months ago. When it was purchased, it was purchased, "As Is." As do all customer, Ms. [redacted] was explained and signed the required State of Tennessee "As Is" statement. In addition to this, the customer purchased a warranty through Zurich to cover any issues that she might have with the car once the car left our lot. The customer complained of a noise in the rear end of the car. It was examined by our mechanic and by an independent third party mechanic and no problems could be found with the transmission or the rear differential, etc. We made ever effort to make certain that she was satisfied with her purchase and she appeared to be when we last heard from here nearly one year ago. There was never a warranty claim filed through Cordova Cars and Cordova Cars has done no warranty work on the car. Obviously, we cannot be responsible for work done by others and certainly can't be held responsible for a problem that is now 11 months from the time of purchase.
