Custom cabinets
Made us Custom hand made kitchen cabinets"in his shop from scratch not out of a box" from beautiful Maple wood and custom stain to match our existing island. Price was fair for hand made custom cabinets. We are going to have him make our entertainment center next cause he only uses high quality materials and we like to support local USA business. We would recommend him if you are looking for quality that will last a life time. You get what you pay for and Corey is worth every penny...

Review: My husband and I entered a contract with Corey on 7/2/15. On that day he required 50% of the total contract sum in 3 separate checks made to him personally. This violated the Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act and the Unfair Trade Practices Act and Consumer Protection Law we later discovered. Corey was advised that my husband ([redacted]) needed to sign the contract before proceeding with the any work. On 7/30/15, Corey adjusted the price of contract my husband signed it on this day. After signing the contract, Corey stated that the doors are not custom made. My husband questioned him as the ability to make and store the cabinets at the Independence location as we did not need the cabinets until October-November of 2015. He stated he has another business but would not tell us the location. My husband asked for drawings of the kitchen layout and he did not have any drawings to give to us. This begin to raise suspicions to us and over the weekend we did more research. We could only find one address and 1 employee listed for his business. His ad states custom made and the door are not which is misleading. On 8/3/2015 we called to cancel the order. I ([redacted]) had to call him to reiterate we are canceling this order 2 days later. Corey had the opportunity to cancel the order on Wednesday as a text message which we have a copy of indicates he could. He stated we would be charged a cancellation fee. In a later conversation that week, he indicated to my father he could cancel the order but is going to make us pay because it will disrupt his relationship with his supplier. We sent a certified later offering $1500 to walk away refund the remaining balance. Corey wanted to charge an additional 40% restocking fee. We asked to see dated invoices, or any other verifiable proof. He has not refunded our money within 10 days of being notified of the cancellation and this is in violation according to the Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act. He has not supplied us with any dated invoices. He stated his attorney said he does not have to show us any invoices. After consulting a Criminal Defense Attorney and Civil Lawsuit Attorney, we have filed a criminal complaint with the DA Criminal Investigations office.Desired Settlement: We tried to resolve the issue by offering Corey $1500 and he stated he was going to make us pay to my father and did not cancel the order. We offered to give him $1500 for his time but that is offer is no longer an option. We want a full refund of $15,325.00 My father will be willing to submit a written testimony as a witness for the conversation between him and Corey S[redacted].

Response:

[redacted] and [redacted] hired me to build a Custom kitchen on 7-2-2015 she “[redacted]” signed the contract but, her husband ran tothe bank to deposit a check written to her from her father and her father told “[redacted]” that he needed to sign the contractalso because he was putting a lien on the house, I told [redacted] also to stop by and sigh the contract as soon as possible. Bylaw they have 3 days to cancel and get their deposit back, we allow 5 days.On 7-30-2015 [redacted] and his father-in-law came to my shop with a few questions and I showed the father-in-law a few itemsthat arrived for their lob like the cabinet grade plywood, under mount soft close slides ordered for their kitchen and adovetail drawer box from our display which they would be getting. During their shop visit the father-in-law furtherquestioned my ability of finishing the materials. I then showed him the spray equipment I would be using because on priorvisit with his daughter to the shop he had seen me using a spray can of clear coat on their custom sample door I orderedwith the profiles they have previous have chosen. Our cabinetry and all of our-staining and finishing are done in house. Thespray can clear coat was only used for the “sample door “to avoid catalyzing a quart for sample door. During this shop visitthey asked for a discount. We agreed to a discount of $1,098.00 dollars even though the contract had already been signed 4weeks earlier. I asked them if they were “Good to go?”, they said “Yes”, we shook hands. They then left the shop My wifewas presentto hear the entire conversation with only [redacted] and father-in-law present. On 8-4—2015 [redacted] called me and left a voice mail stating that he wanted to see receipts from our suppliers to help in hisdecision making. I called him back and left a message stating that, “No, our invoices have private business information likeaccount numbers, salesman ft’s. etc., on them.” 1 then sent a detailed invoice showing all the Custom ordered materials fortheir Custom kitchen project. On 8-5-2015 [redacted] left a voice message stating “We are not going to proceed with the kitchen project? On 8-15-2015, I receive a cancellation letter dated 8-14-2015 stating that they would offer me $1,500.00 to settle thedispute. At this point I have had 45 hours of time invested in in-shop meetings and at their residence to design, re-designchanges were made, ordering materials, receiving materials, etc.On 8-17-2015 1 sent them a refund invoice letter via certified mail. They have yet to reply.Since 8-15-2015 I have been contacted by several different law firms on their behalf to gather information. On 8-19-2015 Ireceived a letter dated 8-17-2015 from a law firm requesting documentation associated the custom kitchen contract. I thenfaxed all documentation requested to that law firm. A few days later I phoned the law firm to verify that they had receivedthe requested documentation. They then informed me that “they were no longer representing that customer”.On 10-1-2015 at 11:18am I received a call from yet another law firm wanting to speak to me regarding this matter. I calledthe lawyer back and provided detailed information from the signing of the contract until the present time.Sincerely,~Corey S[redacted]
