To [redacted],
Please be advised that we received the attached complaint from the Revdex.com in our office on August 25, 2015. Cornerstone received a claim from [redacted] on...

June 17, 2015. On the very same day, June 17, 2015 Cornerstone mailed to [redacted], the attached cover letter, statement of loss form and inventory of contents form. On July 20, 2015, we sent a 30 day follow up letter to **. [redacted] as we never received her claim documentation. On July 29, 2015 we received [redacted]'s claim information. We received the attached “Statement of Loss and notarized inventory of Contents Form” from [redacted] which indicates the date of loss is June 16, 2015. As per the attached Manager's incident Report and Rental Ledger, [redacted] only had insurance coverage until June 11, 2015. Thus she had no coverage on the date of loss. Furthermore, as per [redacted]'s Statement of Loss Form her lock was not on her unit, and thus the cause of loss is theft. In addition, the attached police report dated July 17, 2015 does not indicated forcible entry. Theft is not a covered a covered cause of loss under the attached policy of insurance that [redacted] purchased. I draw your attention to the Certificate of Self-Storage insurance, the paragraph entitled Burglary. “The term burglary shall mean the act of stealing property by forcible entry in the storage space described in the Rental Agreement; however, this coverage only applies when such storage space is securely locked at the time of forcible entry. Visible signs of forcible entry must be evident. Mere absence of a lock or padlock will not constitute forcible entry.”As a result of the investigation, a letter was forwarded to [redacted] denying her claim for damages on the basis that her coverage expired prior to the date of loss and that theft was not a covered peril. Subsequent to that denial, [redacted] alleged that the theft occurred in May, 2014. Her claim is not supported by her original statement, the manager's statement or the police report. Our position in this matter remains unchanged.
Cornerstone has complied with all regulations and promptly investigated and denied this claim. We appreciate your time and assistance in this matter.
Very truly yours,Cornerstone Agency Services

within 30 days, and subsequently, on July 6, 2015, sent the claimant the enclosed letter advising her that we would be unable to further process the claim until this information was received. The following day, On July 7, 2015, we received the requested information from the claimant. We received the requested information from the facility, also enclosed, on July 14, 2015. The same day, a denial letter, enclosed, was sent to the insured as damage from mold is an exclusion of the policy. Please be advised that the policy specifically excludes: EXCLUSIONS: We do not insure:b. Against loss or damage caused by or resulting from wear and tear, gradual deterioration, maintenance, inherent vice, latent defect, moths, insects, rodents, vermin, mold, mildew, wet or dry rot, atmospheric condition and/or changes in temperature, delay, loss of use or loss of market.Consequently, the claimant is not entitled to receive any monetary compensation for the loss of her items due to this mold damage. Please also be advised that this is a named peril policy of which tenants at self-storage facilities who choose to enroll are covered for their personal property only. The selfstorage facility itself is in no way covered under this policy. We take pride in a thorough and quickhandling of all claims.Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.Sincerely,

We are in receipt of your complaint dated December 2, 2015 and attached to this letter. However, please be advised that as per the attached Declarations Page the policy of insurance that was issued by Cornerstone agency Services was written to [redacted]...

and not [redacted]. Thus [redacted] is not the named insured on the policy and has no standing to file a complaint.Furthermore, a claim was reported to our company on March 13, 2015. Please be advised that on March 16, 2015 the attached letter was sent to [redacted] requesting him to prove his loss by completing a Statement of Loss Form and an Inventory of Contents Form. Again on April 15, 2015 the attached letter was sent to [redacted] to remind him that we have not received his required claim documentation. In addition, on May 15, 2015 we sent another attached letter to [redacted] advising him that we have not received his required proof of claim forms. Finally, on June 15, 2015 we sent a fourth letter, attached, to [redacted] advising him that we had not received his required claim documentation. Please note that as of today we still have not received the proof of loss forms from the insured.
I call your attention to the Certificate of Self-Insurance(attached) paragraph entitled "Duties You Have After A Loss: You will give prompt notice to Owner at site location and to our authorized representative, listed below, and in case of Burglary also to the police." Furthermore, I call your attention to the paragraph entitled "Examination Under Oath: Before recovering for any loss, if requested, you:

Review: I am trying to collect on money owed to me from an insurance claim where my unit, as well as, other units were broken into. I have tried several times to contact this company and left messages for someone to call me back (8/16/2013-8/20/2013). As of yet no one has called me back. I submitted all the information required of me and I am being told that I need to submit information they said they did'nt receive yet the information they said they didn't receive they sent it back to me.Desired Settlement: I would like to receive an insurance amount(that I was covered under) which comes no where near the amount for the items I have lost.

Response:

Yes,I purchased the insurance at the time of getting the storage unit. There is another name [redacted] Insurance Company and I assume Cornerstone are affiliated in some way (or they are one big company) and that they (Cornerstone) may handle the claims because they are the ones that requested the information about the claim. In which, I sent them the information and called and as of yet; I have not received a return phone call from the company.

To [redacted],

We received the attached compiaint from you dated September 30,2013. Please be advised that **. [redacted] filed his claim with our office on August 19, 2013. On August 20, 2013 we sent **. [redacted] the attached letter requesting proof of his claim and requiring that **. [redacted] provide us with the Statement of Loss, a notarized Inventory of Contents form and a police report to prove evidence of forced entry. On September 9, 2013 we received the attached proof of claim forms from the insured. However, **. [redacted]'s Inventory of Contents form was not notarized and he did not provide us with a police report.

On September 11, 2013 the attached letter was sent to **. [redacted] requesting a police report before we are able to process the claim. On October 7, 2013 we sent **. [redacted] a second letter, again requesting the police report and a notarized Inventory of Contents. We have also called **. [redacted] on August 19, 2013, September 17, 2013 and October 4, 2013 (see notes) to request the aforesaid documents.

Consequently, as you can see from a review of the documents provided that **. [redacted]'s complaint has no merit as we have been in contact with him through letter and telephone several times. Furthermore, we are awaiting **. [redacted] to comply with our letters for a police report and a notarized Inventory of Contents form before we settle the claim.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
