In response to the letter written by [redacted] to the Revdex.com on approximately
September 14, 2014 Cornerstone Construction and Remodeling, Inc. submits the following:
Regarding the first allegation that in the spring of 2011 Mr. [redacted] had a window leak; this is true and it
was...

determined, by the roofing contractor he chose and whom performed the work, that his existing
roof was improperly flashed-in and due to nothing having to do with the work Cornerstone Construction
and Remodeling, Inc. performed.
We have made numerous visits to the [redacted] residence since the window-leakage this complaint has to
do with occurred in January of 2013. On the last visit in March 2014 siding was removed to see if there
was an area where water could penetrate. Flashing was nailed in place and caulked-in to facilitate water
run-off, there was water run over the entire roof, sprayed up under the gutter, and into the gutter
above the window for over an hour to test for a leak.  No leak was visible after these tests. Mr. [redacted]
had not contacted us after our last visit as we instructed him to if the leak persisted. Until this letter,
written 6 months after we last did any troubleshooting, we have been under the impression that the
problem was resolved.
This problem did not occur for more than three years after Cornerstone Construction and Remodeling,
Inc. completed the project. The roof was sloped properly and the downspouts were sized properly as
evidenced for the normal functionality for three years prior.
With respect to the downspout "tie-in" Cornerstone Construction and Remodeling, Inc performed the
work according to the plans which stated that the new downspout would be connected to the existing
drain tile and that is exactly what was performed.  There was never any implication that a new drain line
would be run to the street. Furthermore, there is no way to have known that the drain we connected to
was not functioning since it was where the existing downspouts were connected; we simply connected
to the existing. Unless the drain line was dug-up south of the existing house (the point where we tied-in),
there is no way anyone could have known there was an issue with the drain line; Cornerstone
Construction and Remodeling, Inc had no reason to excavate for any drain line in that area and
therefore could not have been responsible for any problem arising therein.
We have been very conscientious with respect to this problem and have never indicated we were
finished with solving the problem even as our workmanship guarantee was expired. As stated
previously, we understood the problem was resolved. Now that Mr. [redacted] has publicly given his
slanderous opinion we have no intention of paying someone else for the work we were in the process of
performing. We are satisfied that Mr. [redacted] has a remedy for his problem.
