Coronet Bridal Shoppe Reviews (1)

Review: I purchased my bridal gown January 31, 2013 and was told at the time of purchase to purchase a larger size because the seamstress on site would do the fittings at the store location. During my initial visit I had mentioned that I wanted my dress to have cap sleeves in addition to the dress alterations and the sales person, [redacted], said everything would be taken care of. [redacted] stated that they could take care of the sleeves as well as the alterations at the store and that the store would call a couple of months before the wedding date (August 31, 2013) to let me know the dress was in. None of the items that I discussed were written down by [redacted] on my order information and I had made sure to stress the importance of these details when I put in my deposit due to the soon approaching wedding date. I hadn't received a call so I decided to give the store a call the last week of June and was informed that the dress shipment would only come in July and be available the second week in July. On July 9th, another sales person called to notify me that the dress was in the store via voicemail. The following day (10th) I called the store asking when to make an appointment to do alterations for my dress as well as adding the cap sleeves and was notified then that the seamstress at their location had retired and it was my responsibility to find another seamstress. She also didn't recall the conversation at the time of purchase regarding the need for material to make the cap sleeves and asked if I had already ordered them. It was her responsibility at the time of purchase to make sure that the necessary material was ordered and she assured me that everything would be taken care of when I paid my 50% deposit to purchase the dress. I have a picture available to show that this was discussed because there are two types of cap sleeves I could choose from that [redacted] placed on the dress I tried on there at the store.

I inquired why the sales person didn't mention this information to me in advance of the dress coming in and I had to scramble to find another tailor to do the alterations. The sales person didn't mention the seamstress information on the voicemail left on the 9th and when I called on the 10th, [redacted] stated that the information of the seamstress retiring was on their website which I wasn't made aware of at the time of purchase that notifications would be found there. I was very disappointed with their lack of customer follow up and service. I asked about the price for the additional material for sleeves and [redacted] said she would find out and call me back however she never called me back.

A week later, I was worried and I called [redacted] requesting the information on the sleeves on the 17th as to whether the material had come in and also wanted to speak with the manager ([redacted]) regarding this issue. She said she had no idea if the material came in and that the manager would call me back. I waited two hours for a call back and decided to call again and another sales associate picked up the phone and told me that the manager was assisting another customer and then I was told by the sales associate afterwards that [redacted] was in the middle of sewing the cap sleeves on my dress - which I was very concerned about since she is not a seamstress and I was not there to see. [redacted] then picks up the phone letting me know that she is sewing the lace material on tulle for me to take to another seamstress. I inquired as to when I can pick up my dress and she informed that I would have it by the weekend which was inconvenient for me since I had to be out of state for wedding related appointments and they were closed on Mondays. My appointment for a seamstress would be the next day, Tuesday (23rd) and I told her I needed my dress before the weekend. She then mentioned she would have it ready by this Friday (19th). I said I would have to rush during my lunch break to get it in time for alterations since they close at 4pm. I asked if a discount could be provided due to the stress/frustration involved in this entire process. [redacted] got upset and said she will hang up the phone on me and she did hang up. I think this is not professional behavior for a manager to do this to a customer who purchased a large dollar item from her store back in January and is very stressed already due to the short time left before the wedding.

The customer service is appalling and I have never encountered such behavior from management. She called me 40 minutes later acting calmly to tell me to come pick up my dress today, the 17th, if its convenient for me and pretended that she didn't just hang up on me 40 minutes before.

When I got into the store to pick up my bridal gown and material for the cap sleeves, she mentioned that I inquired about a discount and that the price of the dress is already at a discount and that it is too bad for me. I proceeded to tell her that I was very frustrated and stressed out due to the lack of communication provided by her sales person and the store in general and I said that there is a lot more wedding planning I needed to take care of and this just added to my stress levels for which a discount would be justified. She said: "everyone gets stressed and that you only care about yourself and your stress". I am not sure why a business would provide such poor service and communication to their customers given that the items that they are purchasing are large dollar items.

I did inform [redacted], the manager, that I would be filing this Revdex.com complaint and she said "Go ahead, do whatever you want". I think it’s prudent for other customers to be aware of this type of unprofessionalism and disregard for customers who put their trust in their store to get things in time so they can be ready in advance for the most exciting day of their life. I have 6 weeks left to finalize every other detail of my wedding and now I had to add this stress on top of this because they didn't find it necessary to communicate prior that their seamstress retired and I would have to find an alternate solution. I wouldn't want any other bride to go through this frustration.

The alterations are now going to cost me even more since I am going outside to find another bridal shoppe to do the alterations for a dress that I did not purchase at their store. If I had been aware I would have purchased my dress at a place who could do my fittings as well.Desired Settlement: I would like a discount due to the additional expense I would be paying for an outside seamstress to alter my dress as well as a formal apology for the inconvenience.
