Corral Fence Co. Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: I contacted Corral Fence Co. Inc. to replace my old fence with a vinyl fence, knowing they had done work for us in the past which was good. Granted the task was difficult they accepted and we agreed on a price, the job was to place the new vinlyn fence exactly where the old wooden fence was right up against my neighbors half wall. The main reason I wanted it right up against wall was that I had my gutter leader pipe along the side of the fence and wanted to leader pipe to fit in place after the new fence was in. After the job was done, looking from the outside into the yard I noticed there was was a gap between the new vinyl fence and my neighbors half wall. The gap ranges from 4" to 2" along the fence at certain parts, which isn't straight fence to being with. I contacted the company about the problem, they refused to even come and take a look at the job there empolyees did, so I sent them pictures and from there vantage point was told that's the best they could do. I think it should be normal practice for an employer to come and inspect the job that was done and give there professinal opinion on it after a compliant. From my point of view as a non-contractor I see space and the fence can be moved back.Desired Settlement: Would like the fence to be redone and closer to my neighbors half wall and for the owner to come out and inspect the work his employees did and give me his professional opinion.

Response:

When we originally appraised the existing fence condition, we unequivicably told the customer the problems we were dealing with and what might result if we did the job:

1- The old fence was a very old wooden fence installed into a masonary wall that wasn't straight to begin with.

2- The customer was told by myself that because the new fence had posts (which the wooden fence didn't), it would automatically leave less room for his gutter.

3- Again, the customer was told that because the old wall was not straight and very old, it's condition after the wooden fence was removed could be compromised.

4- I specifically told the customer that having space for his gutter after the new fence was installed might be impossible.

5- Because of the condition of the old wall, the removal of the wooden fence and concrete that had to be broken to get the new posts installed, it was almost mathmatically impossible to solve the customers request. I said we would try our hardest. Again, the customer was supplied with all this information pre-installation.

6- Our installers were instructed beforehand of the situation and problems involved and did an admirable job of getting the fence installed as close to the wall and as straight as was humanly possible.

7- The customer was home supervising the installation the whole day it was installed.

8- The customer gladly paid immediately after the job was completed.

9- Weeks after the job was installed the customer complained.....about issues that were concretely discussed beforehand, about work that he in fact supervised and readily paid for at its completion.

10- After interviewing the installation crew, with the conditions they were given to work with and my previous inspection of the site, it was agreed that the fence was as close to the crumbling, curved, archaic wall as it could get.

11- The space the customer might see aboveground does not indicate the condition below the surface, where the old concrete wall was jutted out and uneven, making it impossible to move the fence any closer.

12- Most jobs are not seen after installation. We take no money until the job is done, pretty much assuring that the customer is satisfied before they have to pay us. That has been our policy for 42 years with a pretty much unblemished record.

I severely take issue with a customer who was fully made aware of every pratfall beforehand, who fully inspected the whole installation, gladly paid afterwards and finds complaints weeks afterwards.
