Alteration of pdf lease agreement and refusal to provide hard copy of signed document.I asked for an early termination of my apartment lease at Corvias' [redacted] in [redacted] per reasons listen in section 5B1 (marriage, graduation, study abroad; mine being financial and medical). The apartment manager said, "It shouldn't be a problem. I just have to clear it with my boss." (Jan 16)A week later her boss says no because the clause is meant for people no longer enrolled in school (Jan 26). I challenged him on the logic. It took him over a week to get in contact with me. By this point I had to sign my other lease to lock in the price (Jan 28). Under section 5B, it originally stated the 45 day early termination fee could be waived if granted early termination under those circumstances. Now that I have signed another lease, the section now states everyone must pay the 45 day early termination fee and it has a distinctively different font size on that section of the pdf. The apartment complex manager originally claimed after looking for hours she could not find the hard copy, but could find all my other paperwork. Then, she claimed a hard copy never existed.Desired SettlementRefund of 45 day early termination fee and the security deposit in full.
