Review: We have had multiple bids for multiple repairs and on each the contractor cuts corners and now we have leaks in our master bedroom, closed on 12/5/12

we bought closed on our house 12/5/12, since then we have had the deck go bad had multiple bids all saying it would be around 6000.00 to fix, the contractor sent his guy who sanded added a new layer of sealant and now our bedroom has water leaking in from the deck and is all over the back wall. we are currently facing similar issues with our tile, we had a company come out they said it needed to be redone and part if it was foundational issues the builder came over and yelled at them and told them to just replaced the cracked tiles which are now up to 12 tiles at least one in every room that has tile. The tubs are also cracking and they are refusing to replace them, we also had a painter come to fix holes made from improper doorstops they puttied and haven't returned since. The builder's justification is that we didn't buy a 400,000 dollar home so of course it isn't going to be done with the best materials. That being said they could at least do it right with the cheap materials they buy so it doesn't have water damage to a house 12 months later.Desired Settlement: We want the deck fixed proper, the tiles replaced proper, the tubs fixed, and the carpets, walls, and floor boards which are being destroyed by water in the master replaced if needed, as well as testing for mold. We have a new baby on the way and a toddler in the house, if there is mold it need to be fixed immediately.

The complaint that took place was between the homeowner and the developer. At the time of the complaint I was out of town. Since I have been back in town I have met with the homeowner. First of all, the deck has never leaked. The problem that took place was a big wet slushy snow that built up on the deck and leaked back into the house around the exterior door because ice formed on the edge of the deck that kept the water from draining off. The homeowner needed to take responsibility and remove the snow and ice dam off the deck. Me and my workers removed the ice and snow. We made repairs around the door and had a disaster company come in and dried out the carpet and water. There was no mold because the matter was taken care of in a timely manner.

I have talked with the homeowner and told her that the cracked tiles will be replaced and have scheduled it to be done. There is one tub that has a two inch crack and it will be repaired. The doorstops were installed properly. As for the holes caused by the doorstop, the homeowners need to be careful and not push the doors back too hard or it will happen again. The painters are coming back and repairing the holes this time but

the homeowner needs to take responsibility if it happens again.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2014/01/07) */

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

The response is acceptable, but all the items have not yet been resolved. The time to resolve these issues has been long and getting consistent time frames for fixes has been difficult. Many of these have been addressed with the Contractor for over six months. It doesn't take six months to get these types of items resolved.

Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2014/01/20) */

I contacted the husband on the 9th of January and gave him the phone number of the subcontractor who repairs bathtubs. I talked to the husband again on January 17th and he said he hadn't called him yet and that he would. The homeowners and the developer have been communicating with each other to decide whether or not to put wood floors in or to stay with the tile floors. As of January 17th the husband told me they decided to stay with the tile floors and just repair the damaged tile. The painters have stopped by twice to paint all of the touch-up repairs. He wasn't able to make contact with the homeowner. The homeowner has the painters phone number now to make an appointment with them so that they can come back and do the repairs. The goal is to have all of the repairs done by January 31st.
