The “customer” complaining has never been contacted by me or anyone representing White County Community Counseling Services about billing or collecting fees of any kind. The “customer” complaining has never contacted me about billing or collecting fees of any kind.   The only explanation for...

the basis of his complaint would be an insurance EOB that he received. This is an assumption on my part, but that is the only way he would have known about a $150 fee. We bill insurance at the $150 rate.   I have neither control over insurance companies nor the sending of their EOB’s. When insurance is involved we bill at $150 per session, however, as you are aware, they ultimately tell us what that fee may be. After processing a claim, the insurance company sends their customer an explanation of benefits (EOB). My guess would be that their decision was to pay nothing for the session billed because this person’s deductible had not been met. After receiving that insurance correspondence he jumped to the conclusion that he had to pay me the $150.   The fee for that original “interview” is $35. The dates involved were June 16 phone call asking for an appointment, June 17 5:00 PM appointment where this complainant set a follow-up appointment for June 22. Later on the evening of June 17 he went through the registration process for our clinic, electronically signing the HIPPA statement, Informed Consent, and Reimbursement and Cancellation policy documents. The last communication between us was when the June 22nd session was cancelled by phone that day.   The explanation for this complaint is the “customer’s” misunderstanding of documents produced and delivered by his own insurance company. The basis for his complaint against White County Community Counseling Services does not exist. We intentionally did not attempt to collect a fee at the time services were provided, have never planned to, and won’t.   We were never contacted directly or indirectly with any questions about this matter until now.
