I am rejecting this response because: There is a blatant misrepresentation in it: "I do not see why we should pay to have her water turned on when leaving the water on would have put her in violation of the water conservation ordinance and the potential of up to $in additional fines from Austin Water."When the plumber came to my house the next morning, he turned on the water to my house and turned off the water to my irrigation system Thus, I am no longer in violation of any water conservation ordinance or in danger of any fines The plumber charged me $ I was actually going to take down my complaint, but in light of this blatant misrepresentation - that they had to leave my house in this manner or else I would have been in violation of a city ordinance -- I cannot do so Furthermore, I had an additional irrigation contractor come out this week who calmly explained the situation to me and explained what was necessary to fix everything and what the cost would beThe difference in professionalism between the two companies was stark I do not see why I should have to pay $for a problem this company created

I am rejecting this response because:The company I am now working with is keeping the irrigation system off until a backflow device is installed. In fact, it was your employee who, only after I questioned his work, yelled at me something along the lines of - I shouldn't be working on this system without a backflow device." He was perfectly willing to work on the system before I questioned his work. Thus, it was your company that was willing to work on my system without a backflow device. Moreover, there have been at least two other instances when you have worked on the system without a backflow device-once when you installed a controller panel for the previous owner, and once when you came out to work only system before. Unlike my new company, you appear perfectly willing to work on a system without a backflow device, which I knew nothing about, as long as you are getting paid.  When you don't get paid, you threaten to turn people in to the city to face fines that could easily be prevented by simply turning the irrigation system off. Instead, you left my house with the water turned off for 18 hours.  I think this sums up the difference in professionalism between your company and the one I am working with now.Thank you,[redacted]

We were contacted by homeowner to adjust system and check out the sprinklers and arrived on 12/10/15. Prior to this we had check out the system on 2/14/2014 so it had been almost 22 months since the system had been serviced. Prior to that we had serviced the system in 2011 for the previous...

owner Jerry Ryan and made similar minor repairs ( adjustment or sprinkler heads and replacements ) Upon arrival on 12/10/15 we noted the following issues upon arrival and testing.1. Controller had error message. Reset controller and tested system2. Upon testing, zone 1 valve leaked from body, and zone 2 wouldn't shut off. 3. We could not locate a dcva ( backflow device ) (we not supposed to work on systems w/out a backflow.), so we had to shut off main water at H.O. shutoff to keep zone 2 from running. We contacted the Austin Water Department to find location of backflow device, and they replied that they did not have a test report of one on file and that they would send an inspector out to the property. It it our option that the irrigation system is 20-30 years old and was installed without the proper backflow to protect the drinking water supply. It is our responsibility to notify a customer of all deficiencies we find, they do not have to hire us to install and fix, but we are required to notify the homeowner and Austin water of these items and are not legally supposed to work on irrigation system until a proper backflow is installed and tested. We explained the situation with the dcva, and valves, as well as our recommendation for zoning changes, to which she replied "I spent alot of money ($123.50 added from our records) last year to have the system fixed, why am I now having problems?" Then insinuated that we broke the system on purpose, to which I took offense. I explained that I wasn't a crook, and was good at my job, but she persisted with an equally raised voice, then sent us away with a promise not to pay, and complain on Yelp.  We did not charge the homeowner for our service call and evaluation ($90) due to her dissatisfaction. We have since sent her some emails explaining this situation. I do not see why we should pay to have her water turned on when leaving the water on would have put her in violation of the water conservation ordinance and the potential of up to $450 in additional fines from Austin Water.
