I have an unsecure loan with Council Federal Credit Union that was sent to collections without me being notified. In addition, Council Credit Union is incorrectly reporting the account as 120 days past due for the amount of $967, the office manager *** refuses to accurately report the account. This has resulted in me being denied credit for a mortgage. On November 1, 2019, I sent Council Credit Union a $300 payment. I was notified on November 8, 2019 that the account had been sent to collections and the payment I made was deposited into a savings account I have with Council. I contacted the collection agency Chambless-Math to discuss the account, I was told they did not have any information for it and would have to contact Mr. I was notified by Chambless-Math that they obtained the account from Mr. and I setup a payment plan with their office. The agreement was for me to pay $500 on the 30th of each month until the balance is paid. Since November 2019, I have made each payment as agreed, however, Mr. continues to report the account has 120 days past due each month. This is a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Since Mr. has turned the account over to collections. He should no longer report to the credit bureau and the account should reflect a zero balance. I've had numerous conversations with Mr. about incorrect reporting but he refuses to change anything. I honestly believe he continues to report this account for malicious reasons with the intent to cause harm.

Correction to a credit report I would like for the account to be reported accurately.
I am responding to the case that has been reported to your agency. If our member is deputing the reporting of their account to the credit bureau they should file a complaint with Equifax. Upon receiving a report from Equifax, we will respond appropriately.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Major issue is they were notified by me of the wrongful reporting and his response was talk to the collection agency. I feel this was an inappropriate response. I contacted the collection agency who stated it was not them reporting the account late. Though the account is being disputed with Equifax, I think further measures need to me taken for his failure to correct his continuous mistake and refusal to communicate about it.
Mr. and Mrs. has since filed a claim with the Alabama Attorney General's office.
