This is the most unethical apartment complex I have ever lived in. When I first moved in they were super nice and acted like I was the most important person they had to talk to that day. But once I moved in the whole thing changed. Maintenance requests took at least 2-3 days to get completed. The security gate is open more often that it is closed. I was told when I moved in that they had just gotten a new gate, and when I went in once to complain about how it is always open, I was told it was a really old gate. And when I found out I had a stalker, and went to file a police report, the police officer told me that is a very unsafe area and they respond to it all the time.

So when I came home one Saturday afternoon and both gates were again open, I went to the office and asked them why it was open again. They said that a part had broken and they were going to get it fixed on Monday. It was open the entire next week. So I gave my notice. They require two months notice. When I told them the situation with the stalker and the gates being open, they told me if they could "pre-lease" the apartment, I would be able to move out and only have to pay rent on the few days that the apartment is empty. So I believed them. My mistake.

After some time went by I went in to check and see if they had gotten anybody to move into my apartment and they said they had not, and anyway, they don't pre-lease apartments anymore and I would have to buy out of my lease, which is two months worth of rent. So I filled out the paperwork and started working a ton of overtime to come up with that money. Then when I got closer to moving out, I checked in again and they suggested that I place an ad to see if I could find someone to move into my apartment so I wouldn't have to do the buy-out. So I did that, and I found a few people who were interested in the apartment, but when I sent them to the complex, the staff wouldn't give any details about how much the rent would be until I had moved out, they inspected the place, and then they decided if they were going to renovate it or whatnot. So the people were unable to decide if they wanted the apartment because they didn't know how much the rent would be.

So then I decided that I would just do the buy-out because I don't trust them to be honest about if someone else had moved in, and the 62 page lease indicates that I could have to pay the rent until the end of the lease, which was in June of 2019, so more than six months out. So I went by yesterday to pay the buy-out and give them back the keys to the apartment. I decided to stop by the apartment to make sure I had gotten everything out of the apartment, and when I walked in, there was a worker in the house tearing everything apart. The oven was in the living room, all the cabinets had been torn apart, and all the cleaning I had done to get the place ready for inspection was irrelevant. I still had the keys and had paid rent until the 23rd!!!! This happened on the 21st, when I still had 3 days left on the rent. So I went to the office to give them the buy-out money and turn in my keys and told them that there was a man in my apartment renovating! I asked the office what about the inspection and decision about renovating that they told me I had to buy-out and give them the keys before they would even do that, and they checked with the maintenance man and came back and told me that the maintenance man had gone into the wrong apartment. Which makes no sense. Why would they just walk into the wrong apartment and start renovating? Whatever happened to the notices that we are supposed to receive 24 hours before the staff is going to enter our apartment? I am really really angry about this and wanted to be sure that everyone knows how unethical these people are. I would not recommend that my worst enemy ever move into Country Lake Apartments.
