Wife, who is co-owner, tried to charge us $estimate fee despite my saying twice when I dropped off the mower that I did not want to pay for an estimate, instead opting for the $overall mower repair plus partsShe still wrote "Est$20" on the service form, which I asked her to scratch out, but as far as I know never didI went to pick up the unrepaired mower the next day after she called usMy wife complained that the lady was rude to her on the phoneWhen I arrived at the shop I asked her why she tried to charge us the $She angrily thrust a list of parts supposedly needed for the repairs at me and said it had taken her a long time to completeShe then went on a tirade that my wife and I must be the types who expect free estimates (as if that's an unusual business practice) and wrote on the bill "DO NOT COME BACK!" before tossing it in the bed of my truckWhat puzzles me is that I'd dealt with the husband a few weeks before when I bought a part for our riding mowerHe was very helpful and friendlyThe price for the part was quite reasonableYet, he hid in the back during the entire ordeal, only coming out as I was driving off
We were refferred by Toro in 2014. We had a bad xperience with two other local companies and decided to go back to the manufacturer to find and "authorized" dealer. Near end of summer season, our mower was returned. We used it only a couple more times before winter set in and the grass was no longer growing. We had challenges keeping the item running. It would shut off after running for a few passes. I would empty the bag and the unit would not want to restart. After it rested for 15-30 minutes it would finally restart. I decided to wait till spring since their office is clear on the far side of black forest. Thinking we would address the issue in the spring when I know I can use it regularily to be certain it is running at top performance after futher needed repair. I contacted them only to find out they no longer do repairs. How convenient. I learned their repair is only good for 30 days and so even if I would have taken it back at end of season...not having the opportunity to test it for a solid 30 days would have killed it anyway. If the authorized repair centers won't get things right how can we as consumers trust anyone.
