Country Strong Contracting Reviews (%countItem)

I had contracted with Rob C of Country Strong Contracting to repair several issues with the electric service in my older home. He had come for a site visit on December 28 and I showed him the issues. After a lengthy investigation he told me he could make the repairs for $700 including materials. He then provided an estimate in writing showing the materials required and stated that any materials not used would be left with me. The estimate showed the following would be required: (2) 20amp breakers @ 4.97 ea, (2) 1 pole 15amp breakers @ 4.97 ea, (1) 250' 12/2 (later changed to 12/3) wire @ $165, (2) 20amp GFI receptacle @ $17 ea, (3) 20amp receptacle @ #.50 ea, (4) 20amp 3 pole switch @ 2.00 each - total $237.38 which leaves $462.32 for labor. They did not use the majority of the materials (no switches, receptacles, only 1 breaker, only 1 GFI, no 12/3 wire). They also were not able to do 2 of the 5 items needing repair. They wanted additional money to come back for one item (bathroom sconce lighting) and said they had no idea how to repair the light switch in my kitchen. The wiring they installed in my attic was not done to code though they represented themselves as electricians.

Country Strong Contracting Response • Jan 16, 2020

I am writting in regards to Country Strong Contracting. We have received notice of a complaint from Philip Baum. It is unfortunate that we meet under these circumstances and not one other job that our company has had no issue on. I would like to address this complaint and also attempt to fill in some of the additional questions you guys have about us. First, let start we the company. Tommy J started this company in Feb 2019 to support work for a local house selling company. He took off very quickly and unexpectedly and hasn't had an issue at all until now. The company is licensed in PA and insured through ***. Rob works with Tommy. On to ***. I recommended to Tommy and Rob not to take this job from get go. The very first time the two went to see this property one of the dogs bit rob. It was also very clear from the beginning *** is an abusive tyrant. After the dog bite the boys still sent the estimate on what they could visually see and what was show by ***. The client was asked to provide materials and half of the labor as a deposit. He did not do this. He agreed in person and then sent a minimal payment of $100. This was immediately returned and he was told why and we wouldnt be taking the job. As, tommy and rob do not want any negative comments rob was initially afraid to report the dog bite. *** assured everyone it was a fluke. Let me add that as they are new they are vastly discounting all work so they can get the names out their. ***s job was bid vastly below the average.
A few days later *** apologized for not paying the proper amount and then paid appropriately. It was stated that work would beginning when it could as we filled the schedule already. At this point rob brought in another person to help work on this job. That in itself would have immediately raised the estimate. Rob rejected this and decided he would do it for the same price. Once the boys entered an entire other section was discovered. TWO additional breakers! in this time both boys got aggressiveness and very close calls to several more bites from the dog which was supposed to be caged. *** informed Pat when he came without Rob on day the dog only bites "brown people". *** also in some capacity was abusive with his wife. With all of this Pat was very uncomfortable and did not want to return to the job. The boys decided to finish this and never go back.
With the unknown panels and complications that come up within the job- that were repeatedly discussed with client- Where this job should have been at least 1500 to start, the boys indeed used all materials or different materials. The only materials the client mentioned was wiring which was completely used and more. This job has actually cost us money at this point. Rob feeling bullied by the client said whatever pay $340 and we will part ways.
*** continued to refuse to pay and be aggressive. I vetoed the decision to not adjust the final bill, but still agreed that the final bill could be less than what it should be. This man said to me he wouldn't pay until the final wire was stapled..... the wire in question first of all was not on the initial job it was the "courtesy" portion. ON this same day I was informed not only of the updated problems but the issue with the aggressive dog and racism. (we do have pictures of the dog bite from day one which is still healing). Now, I informed the client we would come staple this wire but the dog must be secured and we would be recording the entire inter action because that is the level of fear that has been instilled into the gentleman. He denied this and denied paying. We will be filing civil suits for payment and for the dog bite and other potential torts against him and his homeowners. We have also reported the dog to the police since the client was clearly wrong that the dog was a one time things and he also failed to contain the animal and put the boys in danger. We feel that not only did we do our job, but we went over and above for this man even through injuries, racism, insults, and his abusiveness towards his wife. We will not be paying him a dime as he is blatantly lying and slandering our company for whatever twisted justified outcomes he deems necessary to cover his own liabilities and incurred debts. Please feel free to call any time . The entire team would be more than happy to provide direct testimony to you on these factors. I do hope any future interaction with you are on the good terms we so pride ourselves in providing. As, I assure you no client with these tendencies will be served again. Thank you.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: I disagree with their claim of events. I have cameras in the interior of my house that also record audio. I am more than happy to play them for the court so the judge can hear exactly what was promised by the contractor, the exact interactions with my dog, the exact words I said. I look forward to my day in court with them.
Regards
