Country Wrench Automotive Reviews (1)

A 1999 Jeep Wrangler belonging to [redacted] broke down a few miles from my shop, Country
Wrench Automotive, the last week of November, 2013. It was towed via a car and rope pulling it to my
shop, by [redacted] called me and I told her I was busy with other vehicles and it...

would be a few
days before I could check out her Jeep. It was approximately a week later when [redacted] called me back,
and I told her I had run a diagnostics check on the Jeep and it had a bad ECM (electronic computer). She
called the dealer herself to inquire about a new ECM, they told her it was discontiuued and they could not
order one for her. She in turn called me back and asked me to locate one for her and make the associated
repairs to the Jeep. I agreed. I called her back the next day and told her that I could send her bad ECM
through [redacted] to be checked and rebuilt, and it would cost approximately $360. She agreed
and the final price given by [redacted] was $367.00, so she wrote a check for that amount which was deposited
by me. The ECM went to [redacted] the following day to be shipped out, and it cook three (3) weeks for it to
be returned. [redacted] herself called [redacted] several times during this three weeks to check the status of the
ECM, and spoke to [redacted] about it each time. When the ECM was retuned to me, it had been deemed
unrepairable, and I was not charged for the services. [redacted] still wanted me to find her a new ECM, so I
ordered a new pre-programed ECM through [redacted] (copy of
invoice available if needed). The invoice is for $175.00. That is the price of the new ECM if, and only if,
the old/original/core ECM from the Jeep is returned to them within 14 days. If it is not returned, they
charge an additional $100.00. I installed the new ECM right away, and it fixed part of the problem with tbe
Jeep, but there were still a few problems that it did not fix. [redacted] decided to take the Jeep to a friend of
hers to have him repair it instead, and I towed it to his house for her with our roll-back I put the
old/original/core ECM in a pre-paid, pre-addressed box to be shipped back to A[redacted] and left
it in the Jeep for [redacted] to return within the 14 days, and she agreed to do so. The reason I left it for
[redacted] to return is she wanted her friend to be able to check it out as well as the new one that was installed.
[redacted] failed to return the old/original/core ECM yo [redacted], and $100.00 was debited by
them from my checking account (copy of bank statement available if needed). Two days later, after taking
her Jeep to her friend/mechanic to fix, she called me and told me it was running fine and on the road. I
asked her what the problem had been, and she toId me it had been the coil and the atemator. Two days
after that call, she called again and said that the new ECM I had installed had ruined the alternator, so she
had to buy a second new ECM. I told her to return both the new ECM that I had installed and the
old/original/core ECM to me, and as soon as I was refunded for them, I would issue her a full refund of
what she paid for it, minus the tow bill to her friend/mechanic. She agreed to do that. That is the last time I
have spoken to [redacted], and she has aot called since, nor has she stopped at the shop during business hours,
nor has she returned the two ECM's to me. In addition, in response to [redacted]' claim that the oil and
fluids were not checked or changed: it was never told to her that they would be, and she also was not
charged labor at all for the diagnostics, or the installation of the new ECM. The only thing [redacted] paid for
was the new ECM, which she is still in possession of.
[redacted]' Jeep was at my shop for just over one and a half months, three weeks of which was waiting on
[redacted] to return the ECM that was sent in to be rebuilt, and another week was waiting for the new ECM to
arrive from [redacted] The other approxomately two weeks it was here was one week in the beginning when I
told her I was too busy to check it out right then (which she was fine with), and the other week was when I
installed the new ECM and a few days of phone tag with her about taking it to her friend, and getting it
towed there. Her claim that it was here for three months is false. Her claim that her friend/mechanic said
that the ECM was never replaced is false as well: you will see on the invoice, the new ECM has a
part number. That number is on the new ECM as well, which was installed in her Jeep when it left my shop.
Her claim that I never even looked at her Jeep is false the new ECM in her Jeep was installed by me, I ran
the diagnostics to find the problem to begin with, and was in contact with her the entire time it was at my
shop.
I called[redacted] today, March 19,2014 (the date of this letter) just to double check that [redacted]
had not returned the old ECM to them since our last conversation, and they confirmed that it has never been
returned to them.
