[redacted] talked with company owner [redacted] on 8/21/ The company owner was advised him that a response on this Revdex.com complaint was past due Mr [redacted] apologized for the delay in responding He indicated that his [redacted] had been hospitalized, causing him to be away from the business more than usual He stated that he has talked with the customer since her complaint was filed and advised her that this business would take care of the problem if she will bring the car into the business He had understood that she would bring the car in for this repair, but she has not yet done so He also indicated that if the customer chose to have the fasteners on the stone guard under her car replaced by a business closer to her home, he would reimburse the consumer for the reasonable costs of having this work performed The business owner appreciates the customer's long-term relationship with his business and wants to resolve the problem He does not feel that there would be any safety issue in driving the car to his business for the reattachment of the vinyl part that has evidently come loose (he indicated that it is not uncommon for the plastic fasteners used to attach the stone guard to fail) He indicated that the customer had requested that he pay for the gas to cover the trip to bring her car in for repair, but he does not feel that this is a fair request

See attachment for original response.Mr*** Brought His Cadillac Srx To My Shop On October For A Knocking Noise In His Engine That He Had At Another Shop For Timing Chains & After The Shop Replace His Timing ChainsHe Was Informed That Their Was A Noise In The Engine. After Checking The Engine Over We Informed Mr*** That Their Was Internal Damage Possibly A Bent Valve Or Rod Knocking & The Best Thing Would Be To Replace The Engine. On 11/19/Mr*** Agreed To ReplaceThe Engine & Gave A Deposit To Order The EngineWe Removed The Old Engine & Installed The New One & Ran & Drove His Vehicle To Make Sure Everything Was Functioning & The Engine Was Ok.On 01/08/Mr*** Paid The Balance & Picked Up His VehicleMr*** Had The Vehicle For 1% to weeks & Brought It Back For A Ticking Noise & After Checking The Engine For The Noise We Told Mr*** We Needed To Replace A Chain Tensioner That Was Not Holding Pressure Against The Timing Chain On The Right BankThis Was Most Likely Do To The Engine Sitting A Period Of Time Before Installed & Not Being Ran Since It Takes Oil To Pressurize The TensionerIt is Also important To Note No Other Problems Were Found.I Had My Certified Master Technician Of Years Who Has Been Employed With Me For + Years & Has Installed Installed & Built Numerous Engines Including Race Engines in My Shop & Has CertificationsOn Most Vehicles Both Foreign & Domestic & Has Had No ComplaintsHe Is Very Picky & Will Not Rig Or Install Parts IncorrectlyHe Also Installed Mr***s Engine To Begin WithHe Then Took Off The Front Timing Cover & Replaced The Timing Chain Tensioner On The Right Bank & Replaced The Timing Cover & Then Ran The Engine For Over An Hour In The Shop & Drove The Vehicle Times to Brooks Exit & Back To Make Sure Their Were No Other Problems Before Returning The Vehicle Mr***.I Have Owned This Shop For Over Years & Have Installed Hundreds of Engines & Transmissions Both New & Used & We Do Not Know Of Anything That we Could Have DoneTo Have Caused A Fire Especially On Most Vehicles Like Mr***s The Fuel Line Is Braided & Connected With A Quick Disconnect Coupler & A Safety Latch To Ensure That It Doesn't Come Off & All Electrical Connectors Clip TogetherThe Mere Fact That There Were No Issues Both Times We Worked On The Vehicle & Ran & Drove It Before Releasing It Back To Mr*** Doesn't Make Sense, I Have AlsoRead The Fire Investigators Report & See No Proof Of Anything We Did To Cause This Fire.Mr*** Has Requested A Refund For The Work Performed And I Can Understand How He FeelsThis Is A Very Unfortunate Situation However The Warranty Mr*** Had Was On The Engine For Year Parts & Labor In Case Of A Bad Engine Or Any Internally Defective part Or PartsI Can Not Refund Money On Parts I Don't Have & Can't Say Is BadWe Replace The Part Or Parts That We Installed At No Cost If Defective For Year Even if We Have To Do It or Times While Under Warranty. It is Important To Know Most Salvage Yards Do Not Refund Money On Used Engines & Will Not Replace The Bad Part With out The Old Part & Their Warranty Is Usually Only Days I Give A Year Warranty To Make Sure My Customers Don't Get Ripped Off Or Feel Like They Got A Junk Part Because We Check The Part Completely & Replace Any Worn Or Bad Part Attached To It That Could Cause A Problem Down The Road Before Installing it.Sincerely, *** ***

Yes Ms [redacted] Did Bring Her Car In For Hydralic Repair To Her Convertable Top In July Of Last Year & Unfortunatley Due To The Fact This Vehicle Is A 92 Mercedes 500sl & The Parts Are Obsolete & Discontinued & We Had To Send Hydralic Cylinders Out To Have Repaired & 2 Of The...

Cylinders Could Not Be Repaired & Took A While To Locate Used Cylinders Good Enough To Have Sent Out To Rebuilt,Durring This Time The Ignition Lock Cylinder Would Not Turn On The Ignition Switch On. According To A Technical Service Bulltin From Mercedes This Problem Can Happen When This Vehicles Sits For Any Period of Time And Not Something We Did While Tring To Fix The Hydralics. We Also Had To Serch & Find This Lock Cylinder Because It Also Was Discontinued Do To The Age Of The Vehicle. However I Am No Fool Either This Is A 23 Year Old Vehicle & Some Things Are Going To Happen Due To Time. I Have However Have Her Vehicle Fixed & Running & Have Notified Her That Her Vehicle Is Ready For Pick Up At No Charge As I Feel Bad About The Time Frame This Took But I Would Suggest She Gets Rid Of This vehicle If She Does Not Understand That These Problems & Others Can Happen With A 23 Year Old Vehicle.
