Countryside Stoves Reviews (1)

Review: In 2002 I had a wood fire insert installed by Country Side Stove of Rhinebeck. At that time they also installed a stainless steel liner, which cost me $1080.00 in addition to the insert. Since we have had the stove, I have always used seasoned wood and had the chimney swept. For the past 10 years CountrySide was sweeping my chimney and servicing my wood stove, which I paid approx. $140.00 yearly for. Over the past three years, I started to get a lot of back draft from the insert into my house, when opened the unit. Each year prior to the cleaning, I mentioned this when I scheduled the appointment. They always assured me they were sweeping my chimney. I had the stove serviced in July, and started to reuse in October. Once again, I immediately starting having a lot of back smoke into my house, with the flue completely opened. It was so bad it was setting off my fire alarms. I contacted Country side again, they advised me they clean my chimney. I stopped using the stove, and had a friend go on my roof to look at the chimney. The chimney was completely clogged with soot, and there was only a opening about 3 inches to allow the smoke to flow out. I contacted Country Side again, and spoke with the [redacted]. He advised me this could not be. Rather than him inspecting his own work, he did nothing. I contacted another chimney sweep company, O.K Chimney Service, who came to inspect the situation. It took two days of work from O.K Chimney company, and them advising me it was one of the worst clogged chimneys they have seen. There brush got stuck while sweeping in the soot, and they had to remove my steel liner, which was corroded with soot. The fee was $450.00 for the cleaning, and approx. $2000.00 for a new liner. I contacted Countryside to advise them of this, the [redacted] promised he would follow up with O.K Chimney and get back to me. I still have not heard any reply.Desired Settlement: I would like a replacement liner, and the reimbursement of the $450.00 to redo a job that was supposed to be being performed the last 10 years.
