Review: [redacted] collected a $600 cash deposit to replace a hot water tank and fix a toilet in my home on 10/**/13. For the next several months I often went weeks without hearing from him and had to follow up dozens of times via text, phone call, and [redacted] message. He did not show up several times when scheduled without a call or reason and I would not hear from him until I reached out. I contacted the manufacturer of the tank (Amtrol) and ultimately they covered it under warranty and sent it to the distributor [redacted] requested (Consolidated Plumbing Supply in Westchester). After a few more weeks of chasing [redacted] around, I spoke to the manufacturer direct again and they contacted the distributor and was told that [redacted] took so long to pick up the tank that the distributor sold it. Amtrol then sent the tank directly to me. I ultimately fixed the toilet myself and had a family member install the tank. I contacted [redacted] on March [redacted], 2014 after not hearing from him for months and requested my deposit back and he said he would send it. I then also checked with Westchester Consumer Protection and was told that his license to do plumbing work had expired. I did not hear from him or receive payment and followed up again on April [redacted], 2014. He finally responded on April [redacted] claiming to have sent the certified check. I followed up via text after another several weeks and he then said he had sent a certified check for half payment ($300) a month previous. I let him know that I did not receive it and that he should contact his bank to stop payment and he said he would. I again did not hear from him for several weeks and followed up via text message three times with no response. I then had a lawyer send him a letter via certified mail requesting payment but he did not accept delivery so the lawyer re-sent the letter via regular mail requesting payment in ten days. It has now been over two weeks since sending that letter with no response or payment.Desired Settlement: Full refund of $600 deposit via certified check sent certified mail with a tracking number.
